After hearing the news that Enzo Maccarinelli will now be boxing Francisco Alvarez for the vacant WBO cruiserweight title this Saturday, Herbie Hide, who was touted as a possible opponent, branded the contest 'An absolute joke'.

"This guy has had a total of 11 fights and more to the point he's a light heavyweight. My son would be a better opponent.

"At least when I box in the WBC title eliminator, it will be two worth opponents, with the aim of fighting for a prestigious title."

    Hide was offered the chance to fight the Welshman for the vacant title but explains;

"Yeah, I was offered Maccarinelli, but at three days notice. To think this fight will be part of a pay per view show when you can watch Carl Froch boxing on ITV for free is beyond me.

"I know where I will be and that will be ringside watching Froch in his bid to win the WBC super-middleweight title against Jean Pascal, as well as supporting my good friend, Danny McIntosh, who will be defending his English light-heavyweight title against Rod Anderton.

Hide would relish the chance to fight Maccarinelli with the right amount of notice

"If Maccarinelli wants to get his chin tested, then let's do it with proper notice. Give me eight weeks, in fact give me six weeks, as that is all I need to get myself in shape to beat this manufactured Welsh boy."

I dont know why Hide's acting so brash, he's the one who turned the fight down. He's not likely to get a better shot at the title than this.

Oh, tell a lie, I do know why. Hide is completely ****ing crazy.

It's a shame he couldn't make the fight. Can't blame Warren for not arranging it, and you certainly can't blame Herbie for not taking it at such short notice.

However - getting in a weak last-minute sub is one thing. Making it for a title belt is another, and that's what is so ludicrous about Enzo vs Alvarez.

Warren mismatches are a dime a dozen, but if Enzo wins then it's going to be ridiculous trying to portray him as 'back at the top' and a genuine world champion. He'd need to take on someone like Banks or Hide next to try to legitimise things, because as it stands a win on Saturday makes him a very paper champ indeed.

Hide is doing well plugging the Carl Froch show, like a good Hennesey employee.

Hopefully we can see Enzo Vs Hide sometime down the road.

All the people who said that Warren wouldn't risk letting Hide near Maccarinelli were wrong then?

Hide's got a WBC title eliminator fight next year. He's not going to **** that up for a shot at the WBO title at three days notice. You can't really blame Hide.

3 days notice is neigh on rediculious.

From a novelty point of view I would have liked to see Enzo v Herbie,

But I can totally see why Herbie had nothing to do with him, Big Mac would crease him, and more than likely he would really hurt him, a major miss match

Hard to really see who Herbie thinks he's having a go at here.

We can say one thing. If and when he does fight that eliminator, if his opponent were to pull out at the last minute and be replaced by someone of Alvarez's stature, but the bout was allowed to remain an eliminator, you wouldn't hear a peep of complaint from Herbie.

Hide vs Enzo would be good but I can not see it happening. Enzo will win the WBO belt then defend against duds and Hide will keep fighting Euro pops.

Hide is a disrespectful trash talker.

He even insulted Steve Bunce live on TV ..........saying he was all mouth.

Hide also said Enzo Maccarnelli looks and fights like a "****ing osterich"

As far as I am aware Enzo had never insulted him..........so Hide was starting the insults there

However I know Enzo has since said he dislikes Hide and that he believes Hide is disliked by alot of people in the boxing world

Enzo said he would love the chance to smash Hide up

Hide is a bit rich talking about getting chins tested

    Enzo - Hide

is in a way alot like

    Enzo - Haye

as in the bombs are flying and there are vunerabilitys about both

but there is no way at this stage Hide is as good as David Haye

in his prime when Hide was fighting Riddick Bowe and KOing Tony Tucker.................................Herbie Hide was probaly better than David Haye

    But now he is fading

and Enzo can knock the flat nosed ***** out
