McGrain. I was clearly taking the Mickey out of Liston. And wanted to see if you'd look at it and be displeased. A manifactured jibe. I do apoligise. You're a poster who deserves better due to your standing and credibility on ESB, exluding your thoughts on Liston as a #3 ATG heavyweight of course.

    Just fooling with you.

Sorry dude! Was a complete accident! I clicked multiqoute by accident!

I'd agree that he didn't get the credit he deserved for years and for him to keep going and to prove himself among the higher echelons of the all time greats inspite of that is some acheivement and in a way overcoming adversity, but his career, in the eyes of the media hadn't hit great heights, his career been seemingly over, and then revived...although I do see where you'e coming from :)

It was a cheap jibe and not intended to be entirely accurate. And I knew he never got his shot after the Ali fights. Pretty obvious as can be with what was discussed on the other thread about Liston.

Bump for this Q, it seemed like a huge upset but shouldnt it have been at least seen as a 50-50?

:rofl Some people really do dream.

The fight was a close one, nobody was "comprehensively" beaten.

Good shout. Barrera did that twice. Everybody thought he was finished after Jones 1 + 2, and especially after the Pacquiao fight. Interestingly enough, he's in a position to defy logic and the world again if he wins anything big at 135. I think he can beat Campbell.

Campbell is the man in form, BUT how much has he changed from the fighter who twice got stopped by Peden? The same Peden who got schooled by MAB? Campbell is ofcourse the bigger man, in form, and MAB has more miles than most on the clock. But I thought (an admitted MAB fan) Marquez and Pacman2 were close close fights, thought he defo edged JMM. Barrera goes down as a legend if he takes this 1

It was definitely a clear win. If Leonard had been given the decision, it would've been a flat-out robbery. It tightened up toward the latter rounds, but throughout most of the bout Duran was clearly in control.

Not much of a case can be made for Barrera in the rematch with Pacquiao, but the Marquez fight was awfully close. The round in which the knockdown took place was the difference on my scorecard, but the judges had Marquez miles ahead. Either way, considering how talented Marquez is, it was a credit to Barrera that he was competitive and then some despite all of the wars and defeats he had suffered.

Barrera is my favorite fighter of all time, I'll be supporting his comeback. I feel Campbell is living off one win, albeit a great one, but he will be given fits by Barrera, even at this stage. I could be wrong, I haven't had a good chance to see what's left in Barrera's tank, but I can hope.

Do you know what the word comprehensive means, Sweet Pea? It doesn't apply to the Leonard/Duran fight, no matter how much you'd like to correct the Nunn fan, or how big of a Duran fan you are.

Duran won close but clear, not comprehensively. A comprehensive victory is Hearns/Benitez, Mayweather/Judah, etc.

^^^Ok, I'll rephrase it if it makes any difference, Duran was clearly the better fighter in June in a competitive fight...

    Principle, that's all.

Duran has his fair share of supporters round here, I have to make sure people don't start thinking Leonard was whooped comprehensively. It didn't go down like that, it was a close competitive fight, that Duran won by about a 2 point margin on my scorecard.
