McCloskey looked great in there tonight.

A bit tight for the first two rounds, but then he got into his game and bossed it from then on in.

A massive result for Paul; stopping Lynes looks briliant on his CV; his best result yet by far.

Bring on Branco, Paul would murder him.

    Well done Paul:good

think he'd struggle with that style at anything other than european level though. doesnt really seem to have serious power either. but good performance tonight anyway.

    I see what you mean.

Paul has good enough reflexes at this level (lets admit it, he does rely on a reflex defence), but he does leave his chin out to dry a bit and lays his hands down too low, and it may cost him later on. Also, I'd like him to keep his punches more compact; looked all over the place when he went for those big swings and missed; he would get punished for that at a higher level.

But overall, at this stage of his development, he looked very good in there. I expected a much closer fight, but Paul just took the game away from Lynes and hammered him down the stretch; I loved the way he negated the jab by not just dodging it, but by moving to the side and ramming home the lead right hook, just to keep Lynes honest. In addition, although he did not land it every time, the uppercut (to both head and body) worked wonders for him and was, in my opinion, the key punch in the fight.

Hopefully he can rectify some of the gaps in his armour and go from strength to strength.

Once again I have got to say, a really good result for McCloskey that raises his profile substantially.:good

Lynes started ok but wen McCloskey adjusted Lynes just couldnt work him out. He has good headmovement and is pretty quick aswel as being a southpaw. Colin was trying everything he knew and it wasnt working, fair play to Paul though he pulled off a very good scalp.

Not really surprised with McCloskey winning, but winning by TKO is a shock

Lynes was very poor and bar about 10 seconds in the 2nd round he never did anything for the whole fight, i think this is partly because McCloskey is a snake of a fighter, very tricky indeed. In truth he was a class above Lynes anyways, far slicker and given the fact he had ONE weeks notice he did well

Had 420 on McCloskey on points but not unhappy with this outcome either

i think what the fight proved is that if lynes doesnt have the jab to work off, then his whole fight plan goes out of the window and he doesnt really seem to have any ability to think on his feet. i hope he comes back as he's great against certain types of fighters, but mccloskey was all wrong for him.

doesnt mccloskey have to face barnes now? would favour mccloskey based on this performance, but barnes is certainly more adaptable and less predictable than lynes so it'd be a closer fight imo.
