as a big Pryor fan it's strange that I've never seen Pryor's one loss. :patsch

Supposedly got TKO'd up at WW. I know he was a bit of a cokehead at the time but still find it stranged that Pryor was stopped by someone who he should've beaten. I take it someone has seen this, how did it go down?

I got it somewhere. Pryor was not at his best obviously. At the end tho, big drama. He crossed himself or something stupid on the floor and mistimed the 10. He sprang up easy but too late.

Also, not many will know Bobby Joe Young, despite underachieving, was voted the hardest hitting 147 pounder in the world at one stage. I thought he would do so damn much better. He had huge power tho he never really showed it.

So you're saying Pryor was o.k to continue? Just made an error?

Mate, he sprang up at like 11. I do remember Bobby was going ok tho. Maybe Arron meant it. I'd have to look again, well find it again lol

Thanks man. I guess Pryor just misjudged it, I'm sure he'd have to be completely out not to carry on fighting, even past his prime.

Pryor was definitely on the slide for sure though. He also only had 2 fights in 4 years between the 2nd Arguello fight and they Young fight. A Canadian guy named Nick Furlano took him 15 rounds and then he won a split decision over Gary Hinton. I believe both these guys would have gone out in 5 or 6 rounds against a prime Pryor. Being an Arguello fan I was not happy with his performance in these fights, lol. The ***** should've come at Arguello that way ;-).

    True.

Imagine if Sweet Pea hadn't been when he fought DLH and Tito. Could've beaten DLH hands down and given Tito more trouble.

Pryor had come back from drug problems when he lost that fight against bobby joe young.

I have the fight, and pryor looked OUT of shape, horrible.

Pryor was shot by the time he lost to Young. He was highly inactive and a drug addict. He was fighting a bigger man who was a big puncher. It was sad.

You can't tell me they hadn't taken their previous toll however.

Pryor was never really the same post ArguelloII, and should of stuck to his initial retirement after that fight.

His eye was a mess, he would have a massive drug problem and would not start dealing with those demons properly until the mid 90s.

The fights with Hinton and Furlano were ugly, the match up with Young was ill advised and Young won easily enough if a bit strangely at the end.

The fights in 1990 were fixes and by that time Pryor was legally blind in his damaged eye.

Even if he was in his prime, Aaron still would've had problems with Bobby Joe.That man floored a heavyweight once.

I hate to say it, but Pryor would have whupped Bobby at his best. As it was he took some of his biggest and was counted out ready to get up.

I was a BIG Bobby fan. I picked up on him very very early (I had he and Curry picked out waaaaay before they got there) and thought he would great. Massive power, good speed etc. I kept following him even after some disappointment but on this one i am afraid i got it wrong. Not even sure what happened or what wasn't there.

It looked to me like Pryor basically said "No Mas" in that fight.

I've never seen the whole fight, just the KO and some highlights. I believe the commentators mentioned that Pryor had been down earlier in the fight, but it looked to be a roughly even fight when Young landed a big shot out of the blue that flattened Pryor.

Pryor jumped up, then willingly went back down and took the count while on his knees.
