I know boxing exercises you do a lot of core training but what about grappling? Any good exercises that you guys would suggest? Do you concentrate more on strength or endurance or both and what specific ones would you suggest?

I'm talking about any type of lifting or calitheics.

I'm guessing their non sports-specific work is comparable to boxing, since they use the same energy systems. In lifting terms this would mean explosive compound lifts. For conditioning interval runs come to mind. I think wrestling emphasizes strength more than boxing.

But as I said, it's more of a guess I don't know **** about wrestling. We'll have to wait for someone with a clue :D

I was going to say sparring.

Lifting you want to think about what you do as a grappler and then see which weights exercises are most suited to it.

E.g. you have to push a guy upwards and off you in side control or mount, the exercise closest to this for me is Bench Press.

In Guard you have to kick a guy off you... Leg Press...

Just go through all the positions and see if you can find a weight / calitcheics exercise that is close to it :)

Please post it in here, I'm interested as well :smoke

Ps. I've decided against a separate forum for lifting and non boxing issues. It's ok, they do overlap with boxing and as long as the same threads don't keep appearing it's not much of a problem. But that's more due to a lack of decent guides and stickies than to being unrelated to boxing.

The only extra sub forum will be for training logs, a feature I desperately want. I'm very curious as to what some people's routines are, mine has been rather one sided lately (boxing, running, cycling and swimming). Well ok four sided then.
