I like Ortiz a lot and the guy is going to do some good work at 140. I think it's timee though that he stepped up in competition.
Undercard wasn't complete mismatches on paper, they weren't complete tomato cans (well, the Jacobs fight.. sort of). I expected Medina and Resto to put up some rounds at least.. give credit to Lopez and Ortiz though, they took care of their business in impressive fashion.
Showing Weekes talking to both fighters, going over the rules basically. It's kind of uncomfortable to watch really...Freddie Roach is having a bad bad Parkinsons' fit in the background. He's shaking like crazy.
Man, you read into this way too much, it's a corrupt sport, but this fight ain't rigged, it's a young aggressive fighter at his peak with nothing to lose and prepared to die in the ring against an underweight fighter more interrested in his business interrests that knows he is well past his best. This can't be compared to a Don King type promotion, Pacquiao has too much pride, money isn't his driving force - far from it!
Though, it does go to show you should have one good championship level fight as a co-feature on an expensive PPV.
Resto WAS a can. Medina wasn't a can but he wasn't the first option either. Originally Bernabe Conception was supposed to be the opponent but they pulled out due to lack of prep time. The undercard isn't bad...but we've got a combined hour of filler at this point.
We're getting judge biographies now. Adalaide Byrd-14 years 43 title fights Stanley Christodoulou- 32 years 68 title fights Dave Moretti- 27 years, 110 title fights (Gave the fight to ODLH)
