Who else found it sad to see and thought Oscar fought bravely?

I found it sad to watch the faded legend beat like that just as many did for Roy Jones against Calzaghe, Tyson against Lewis (and his fights after that) and of course with Ali to the hands of Holmes.
I dreaded hearing people bashing De La Hoya for not coming out for the 9th round was it? They should've pulled him out a round or 2 earlier in my opinion but he shown a lot of heart and wanted to go on until it looked like the doctor and his cornermen advised him not to.
To say he was a fraud or never turned up for big fights isn't true or fair. No matter why you hate him he did a lot for boxing and a gap will be left.
I'm enjoying this great, great win for Pacquiao, I'm a fan of both Pac and De La Hoya so I was more of a neutral if anything and I'm glad we can now get very excited over Pac versus Hatton.
This week I have been watching some great De La Hoya fights such as Chavez 1, Whitaker and Mosley 1 and I think this is a time to appreciate a great career and get excited for what could happen in the rest of Pacquiao's career. As the Sky team said something along the lines of - the end of one chapter, the start of a new one.

I was nervous before the fight started until they came out of their respective dressing rooms. Manny"s aura was different, as if he was just in for a workout, he was smiling a lot, no pretensions...Oscar was obviously nervous...I wanted Manny to win by a knockout, although I was not so sure..seeing DLH get beaten up like that saddens me though..I used to be a fan before becoming a Manny fan

Why not be a fan of both? I don't often say I'm a fan of such and such a person, I'm a fan of boxing but fair enough. De La Hoya looked very nervous before the fight, as much as Pacquiao looked relaxed.

The saddest thing is that he has left his mantle to no one. Without a beacon, boxing in America is gonna slip some more for the worse. Expect boxing to be on a slump for another year or so particularly in this time of economic crisis...

You make a good point. There is no one out there to carry the sport on his back like Oscar did.

I dont think he fought bravely but he took his beating like a man.

It reminded me of Lewis Tyson in a way towards the end.

Nonesense, there is for getting in there and taking the beating the way he did. He just reluctantly took the advice of the doctor and his corner.

For my taste; Oscar stopped punching in situations when he didn't have to. He was not physically incapable of putting up more of a fight, he just elected to fold up and submit. I didn't see anything brave.

DLH may hand pick people and didnt fight certain people, didnt grant rematches in close fights....but with all that said, he took his ass kicking like a man and earned his 30 plus million he is prob gonna make. hes got balls. like him or not.

Yeah I know what you mean. It does feel like the RJJ-Calzaghe aftermath. People can say what they want, but the Golden Boy is a legend of this era. He's been in some of the best fights, and he's fought everyone.

I was supporting the Pacman but if DLH had to lose I hoped it would be in style. It's sad to see the likes of ODLH and RJJ getting humiliated after everything they've given to the sport, but boxing is a cruel sport, that's the way it is.
