This was a reply I just made to a thread labelling a bunch of fighters as quitters, Oscar and Cotto were the ones I strongly disagree'd with but lets just argue about Oscar for now.
"I can't stand this ****ing quitter bollox, Oscar and Cotto did what was asked of them and gave their all, they had nothing left. Why should Oscar go against the advice of his corner and the doctor if that is what happened? Shame on you's."
Say they quit and tough **** if you don't like it all you like but there is no need for derogatory threads about it.

I can't stand the General Forum after these big fights. The hysteria seems to cloud everybody's judgement, and now people think Pacquiao beats Mayweather and other 147lb fighters. Unreal.

i guess, technically, the term is right. they quit and therefore they can be called quitters. but implying that they are lesser human beings for taking their health over their machismo is just plain stupid, in that point i agree with you 100%

way more idiots than real thinkers on this board. these are the same guys who predict BRUTAL KNOCKOUTS in every fight, and use the words SHOT ,BUMS, ect like like they are going out of style.

there are different levels of quitting
its a nasty word but here goes.

    1) ones that should not be called quitters because they were man enough to take huge ass whippings or damage over 3/4 of a fight and sometimes almost the entire fight
EXAMPLES- no shame in these guys
    Joe Frazier (vs Ali III)
    Cotto (vs Margo)
    Ali (vs Holmes)

Quiters who really just QUIT because an ass whipping was gonna come before any real damage happens
    1) Golota (vs grant, tyson)
    2) Marquez (vs abraham)

    INJURY QUITTERS
some think guys ***** out by using an injury as an excuse....shoulders, ankle, knee ect
guess like muhamad ali who fight with a broken jaw for an entire fight makes people like vitali klitschko look bad who hurt/tore his shoulder with only 2 rounds left. danny williams arm was dangling for several rounds and never quit. arturo gatti broke his wrist/hand in round 3 o a 10 round war and kept fighting....orlin norris quits in round 1 against tyson because of his knee.

If you're going to name anyone a quitter it's that Medina against Juan Manuel Lopez on the undercard, he just wanted none of it from the start.

****, the replay of the fight is on now... and I've never seen Oscar LESS committed to shots before. Even round 1 he was putting nothing behind his shots... what the hell was wrong with him? Obviously Pac was just too good, but Oscar couldn't get off either.

He seemed very tense in there and very nervous before it. He was getting frustrated, doesn't make him a quitter.

I agree, I don't think he's a quitter. Perhaps he just realised he can't compete with the best fighters anymore, similar to Morales in the third fight?
