Is Manny getting too much credit now? ~or~ Is Manny not getting enough credit? The perspective seems dependent upon how shot Oscar was, it would seem? Thoughts?
He deserves a lot of credit for his own performance regardless of Hoya being ****. A lot of people picked Hoya based on size, despite him also looking like **** against Forbes. Therefore there is a lot of surprise and crow to be eaten, so it seems out of control but I think its fair he's given a lot of credit considering how many of us were ridiculed for picking him.
Any questions on how much credit Manny gets...who should he fight next is moot. Manny was number 1 before the fight and after the fight..an ATG cemented..boxing people have even compared him to Henry Armstrong. He needs to prove nothing Manny is in a lofty place now..a living legend
True dat but lets keep it all in perspective, Hoya was shot in the sense he simply couldnt deal with that speed. Hindsight being 20/20, turns out to be a style matchup nightmare for Hoya.....reminds me of when leonard made the ill fated decision to take on Terry Norris. Reflexes not there to deal with this kind of speed. Give Pac his due, he deserves it, but dont loose sight of the fact Hoya is way past his prime.
for me its manny humble mentality. its very freshing to see someone that great an atg be such a kool dude. WAR PACMAN
Yeah Roach deserves a lot of credit. I should have seen from a mile away that DLH would have problems with a southpaw especially since he has no right and cant use his left hook, but I didnt.
i've never seen Pacquiao go in and out like last night. For him to come out unscathed is amazing in itself. Even if he did fight a shot fighter. ODLH had every advantage except for speed and age
Yeah his defense and movement has improved tremendously. I also thought that he would be getting countered more by DLH and that with his 5" reach disadvantage that even with the speed he would still be jumping in and out and getting caught but he used good movement (body and head) to avoid getting hit. Based on that, I think he does beat Hatton. Before I would have said Hatton all the way, but with the way Pac is moving now, he will be outlanding Hatton. That will be ****ing awesome if Pac does beat Hatton because that sets up a PBF return
Who can say Hoya is completely and totally 100% shot? Indeed hes not the same guy, as it showed-but pac and his team put together the perfect game plan. In and out, side to side. With everyone saying Hoya was too big and too strong, what did Pac have going for him? Speed! So team Pacman set about the perfect fight strategy to exploit that advantage, made all the better Hoya is 35 years old.
It was like watching Super Mario pouncing on Kooper. Truly amazing and fun to watch, had a good night with all the boxing!
He beat Forbes Wide UD. Pac ridiculed him. Also Berto sure isnt shot but he didnt exactly do any better against Forbes.
Pac made it so easy, I thought I myself can beat DLH last night. Pac won fights from flyweight - welterweight. props to manny
Honestly I think he is getting the credit he deserves on both sides, Yes Manny did a surpurb job getting DLH out of there and beating him to a pulp, on the other hand there are factors that will always remain, hell even half of the Manny supporters said that DLH was shot and weight drained but since Manny won they dont want to factor that into the out come any further. The fact is Oscar is older, is a part time fighter, probably didnt have trouble making the weight but he did have trouble performing at that weight, Roach said Oscar cant pull the trigger anymore, a man that is in the corner with Manny Pacquiao who is an expert in the sport and knows more about Boxing than everybody here combined. I think yes Manny did a great job and won the fight and deserves the credit for fighting the right kind of fight and closing the show with a dominating performance on route to a stoppage, but i also think that we should factor in all of the facts, DLH has been fighting on this level for nearly 15 years plus and sooner or later when your in big fight after big fight after big fight your body will sooner or later say **** you. Yes Mannys win is Legit, but that doesnt mean he beat the DLH that people come to know, he did beat Oscar its a feat in itself that Manny started out so light in weight, However Mannys biggest wins over the big names on his resume were against Morales who was past it, Barerra who was also past it and DLH who is seemingly past it, the marquez win in two fights Manny beat him by a single point. Now this doesnt mean as I said Manny didnt or doesnt get any credit, what this means is Manny has another big name under his belt that he fought and beat in the twilight of their career. Good Job for Manny he did what a fighter in his prime is supposed to do especially when your the best P4P fighter in the world, what Manny was able to do last night Floyd couldnt do in his wildest dreams.
