youre obviously a pacman hater. use whatever excuse you want...even with him getting "old " overnight... he still should have been able to handle a guy who who is 5 foot 5 1/2 inches tall and fought at 130 pounds a year ago! :patsch :rofl:rofl:rofl

It wasn't his age, just that he was spent. Vargas was finished by 29, age isn't the issue, it just happens with fighters and they don't have any juice left. Depends on lots of factors such as the fights they have had, lifestyle outside the ring, training habits, etc...

I would say it was more like 75% DLH being shot and 25% Pacman taking advantage of it.

It's not like Pacman hurt with single punches or even dropped him, it was just sheer volume and activity with DLH unable to even throw an effective jab. He winced everytime he got hit and through out a pawing jab as if he were a wounded animal trying to fend off another attack.

Like I said, had he been in there with a legit WW, he would have been stopped something fierce, not to take away from Manny, but he had defense whatsoever. just like Ali against Holmes and Spinks. Nothing but a punching bag with a few random flurries.

I already gave props to Pacman for a great victory, just telling it like it is. I like Pacman more than DLH, as he's super fun to watch, humble and a good dude....but I like to keep it logical and realistic. Reality is, DLH was shot and couldn't offer anything at all.

The whole point of the thread was to note how dramatic and drastic a fighters decline can become in prize fighting and last night was another example of this.

But all you *******s start taking it as some sort of attack and can't see the reality of it, and then make ridiculous claims that Manny would wipe the floor against Margarito, Williams, Cotto, etc.....

well, at 35 he defiantely is past it. there isnt alot of bernard hopkins waling around. but you can be so sure that any legit welter beats him. cinton, margo and cotto dont posses the speed that pac has. dlh couldnt land even when he did get off becuase of pac's speed. not only was dlh physically past it, the match up was bad for him as well. a fast ferocious fighter is krytptonite for an aging fighter

If Oscar did not get old over night, Which I beleive is a big part of the case along with the weight also playin a factor here but if he really didnt get old over night then this fight tells you and shows you how much Better Manny Pacquiao is than Floyd Mayweather Jr. so which is it, did Oscar get Old and is he shot and perhaps a little effected by the weight or is Manny Pacquiao simply that much better than Mayweather Jr?

I agree with you in that a young and fast fighter is all wrong for an aging fighter. However I disagree with you on the speed issue. DLH was just that slow. David Diaz was faster than DLH was that night. Besides speed can be negated by counter punching as seen with JMM against Pacman. I would also argue that Cotto is faster at WW than Pacman.

We can't really tell how fast Pacman is at WW until he fights a young and fresh WW like himself. It's difficult to gauge his speed properly against and old and slow DLH.

Example: RJJ looked relatively fast against Trinidad, though that was very misleading because Trinidad was old and slow too. Against Calzaghe he looked like he was stuck in water.

If he fights say hatton next, who has a good speed, then we will no how much speed he has against a young and elite fighter like himself.

you have to remember style makes fights. mayweather is a safety first fighter so he did inficlt as much damage as he could by choice. the wieght may have been a factor but hey thats life. dlh gambled on taking on a smaller opponent and it failed because speed and youth prevailed over size.

Kelly Pavlik coulcn't throw punches in his fight with Hopkins ... did he get old overnight too?

Sometimes it's the fighter you're in with that negates anything you usually would do. ODLH showed with the Steve Forbes fight that against an average opponent, he would still be pretty dominant. All this talk of Oscar being totally shot is really disrespectful and discrediting to Pacmans great win.

remember, the fact that dlh was slow has to do with age, he isnt young anymore. as for thr rjj example, its the same thing. rjj is old but calzaghe made him look even older. thats what pac-man did to dlh, dlh is washed up but pacquiao made it look worse because of what hes good at speed and agression.

DLH is shot but even as a shot fighter he is still an above averege fighter....Thats why he beat down Stevie Forbes...It kind of discredits pacs win when people key in on this too much

Completely different fight. Pavlik wasn't allowed to be in that fight by Hopkins. Pavlik threw punches and attacked, but Hopkins countered masterfully and controlled the ring.

Whereas DLH did not throw anything at all, no snap on punches, laid against the ropes and covered up, no footwork, no head movement, etc....

Was Roach, Manny's own trainer disrespectful to Manny, when he said that "DLH couldn't pull the trigger anymore and that's why he took the fight" or that "DLH had no legs, was hesitant and was shot after the fight?"

Manny's own trainer said that, you can find his quote anywhere online....

yeah, thats the thing, a fighter can be shot and still looked haf-decent depending on the competition but fact is pac-man just so happens to be the #1 p4p fighter in boxing. dlh thought his size would overcome the fact that he was past it but it didnt happen. he was just a big target for pac
