His retirement decision comes down to two things and two things only.

Are there any big name fighters out there that can enhance his legacy AND give him the payday to be worth his while.

I am not sure if Dawson fits the bill to tick both boxes either because he just isn't a big name. Nobody in the general public has ever heard of Chad Dawson.

 

weak. mikkel kessler wasn't a big name but still done good financial business for joe and HBO have already said they would back a dawson-calzaghe fight should joe decide to carry on boxing.

i'm pretty sure joe is not contracted to any of the TV networks here in the UK either so if he was worried about missing out on the US PPV market due to a less than well known opponent he could always flog it to SKY PPV in the UK and make a mint through that.

joe could sell at this point in the UK fighting me.
