If Calzaghe challenges Lewis and Knocks him out then you may claim that's equal to Hoya...

Hopefully this penetrates Stonerose's skull, as he refuses to recognize it when I say it. Maybe when someone else says the same thing, it won't get chalked down to bias/hate/other childish insults.

There will always be haters mate. Always. Guys that stubbornly refuse to give any credit what so ever to fighters they simply don't like.

Don't bother your arse with them mate, they're not worth it.

Nonetheless, there are posters that will disagree with your viewpoint, but will still be knowledgable guys whom you can get a good debate out of...and learn some stuff along the way. I know I have, these guys are easy to separate from the trolls and haters.

I know what point your trying to make, but I don't think comparing these two wins is the best way to do it. DLH was past his prime, but prior to last night, no one was saying he was shot to **** and in fact, most myself included, felt he was a stick on to beat the relatively tiny PAC.

Whereas when it came to Jones-Calzaghe, RJJ was regarded as shot and most of us felt JC would win with ease.... and so it proved.

Beatboxer, i respect you're opinion that this is one of the biggest wins of the decade. i personally do not, for the reasons i have stated which is after all my right .
i'm sick of repeating my original point, that this is aimed at the people who ran down joe calzaghes win then shout from the rooftops when their boy beats a similary faded fighter.
i gave credit after the jones fight, and i give credit now.

    Well said.

When Calzaghe signed to fight Jones a lot of people poured scorn on him for taking, what appeared to be, a pure-and-simple "money fight".

When DLH signed to fight Pac a lot of people poured scorn on DLH for picking a fight which most (including myself) thought he would win at a canter. It looked like he was picking on Pac, a naturally much smaller fighter, in order to bank an extra cheque and get another big name on his resume.

Pac's victory was massive for his reputation; Joe's wasn't.

Beatboxer you have missed the entire sentiment of this thread, i have no problem with you or anybody else saying that Pacman beating a shot DLH was a better win than Joe beating a shot RJJ.
But in my view both fights can be viewed in a similar light, they both beat punchbags, i give credit to both boxers but some posters will only give credit to Manny, i find this disrespectful and unfair, and this is what the thread is all about, one boxer getting credit for beating a shot fighter and one fighter getting no credit at all, if i had to say what was the better win i would say Manny's was better than Joe's but this does not get away from the fact that both fighters deserve credit !

to be fair beatboxer has chosen to see the original point far more than most of the others.

I think you need to re-read my posts: I know exactly what Stonerose was saying but in my opinion, the double standard he talks of his not applicable in this instance simply because, one of the wins is ranked much higer than the other for good reason. That is my opinion.

In regards to the people whom he is talking about, haters....he's right. There are a fair few on these boards: total morons who for instance before Calzaghe agreed to fight Kessler said he was ducking him, then said he would lose when he did agree to fight him then trample over the win in hindsight.

These are haters and true idiots. However, the RJJ win is not like that at all....most knew that JC would defeat with utter ease, the shot RJJ.

However, hardly anyone was saying that before Pac fought DLH....these wins aren't comparable IMO, thats all.

I know what Stonerose is getting at, I have not missed the sentiments of this thread at all.

i fail to see the difference between fighter A fighting a known shot fighter and battering him than fighter B fighting someone who turns out to be shot within the first round and battering him.
there are points to be made for pacs win being greater, came up in weight, stopped him etc but the fact remains that at the end of the fights calzaghe fought a more live opponent in roy jones.
pacs win is better yes, but the people who slated joes win so mercilessly should not be in any thread lauding manny's win.
