Who's next for Khan

Team Khan reverted to type by choosing ***an, a smaller fighter without a punch, and ranked 208 in the world. It'll be more of the same.

It could be Masayuki Koguchi - respectable record , 17 wins, only 5 defeats, a higher ranking than ***an. Sounds ideal. Especially when you look at his record more closely - only 5 wins by KO, all 5 defeats by KO. Khan down to 59 in the BoxRec rankings now.

Joe Calzaghe, has said Amir Khan 'can't take a shot' and questioned whether he can ever successfully return from his shock first-round defeat to Breidis Prescott a fortnight ago. Calzaghe - undefeated and a world champion for 11 years - severely criticised that decision which led Warren to match Khan with a 'crazy hungry Colombian who'll probably kill you for 10 grand and has a 90 per cent knockout record'.

Khan lost to Prescott inside the opening minute, having been floored by Willie Limond and Michael Gomez in previous fights. Calzaghe was not surprised to see the Bolton fighter defeated so heavily.

'I could believe it - I was surprised it happened that night, but I could see it happening. He'd been down on the floor a few times - he'd touched down against Gomez who's a shot fighter so obviously I know he can't take a shot.

'What's happened is very disappointing. I was very shocked. Who makes the fight? Is he [Warren] doing his job? If you know someone's whiskers are susceptible the last thing you do is go and bring this guy in the ring.

'I like Amir - he's a nice kid. But that's what you call a complete nightmare for matching him with this guy. Can he come back? I'm not sure. What's he got? I don't know what he's got. Pros and amateurs are different. Just because he won a medal,' the Welshman added of the silver that Khan won at the 2004 Olympics. 'Well James DeGale won a medal [at this summer's Games] but that doesn't mean he'll be a world champion. Audley Harrison is a prime example. He's done nothing as a pro.'

 

Khan stopped Lawton and Limond, both ahead of him, boxrec is bollocks.

 

And Romanov nowhere to be seen, although they have him at No.3 in the world.

 

What the hell do you call Khan's record then? I mean if Murray's is as padded as a sofa I wouldn't exactly call Khan's a brick wall.

They both have **** competition. At least it would be fought for a genuine title, and there is an intriguing clash of styles. And he can actually throw a punch worth a ****.

 

Thats a bit rich coming from a man who has been knocked down by a 43 year old man and a completely shot fighter in the first round of his last two fights

 

Khan last fought a man with a losing record in his 4th fight and 3 years ago, Murray last fought a man with a losing record in May this year, and struggled.

 

And for all that tell me the good fighters he faced? Khan has fought better journeymen than Murray. Hooray!

Regardless of who wins, each fighter would be the best name on the others resume, and its for a legit title.

 

Just because I think that Murray is overrated does not mean that I think that he shouldn't face Khan.

 

Frank Warren will make sure Khan is fighting a few more tomato cans before he moves up a level again, so they can get the hype machine to 100% again.

 

Maybe he's that little bit more respected because he comes across as down to earth and realistic about himself? Or maybe because he went the proper route and went for that British title? I don't know.

Overrated as a boxer I don't think so. Nobody talks that much about him around here.

 

Did you only watch the first round of those fights? or is there no electricity in the north between 5am and 1pm whilst your all in bed thinking about getting a job?

Thaxton - VERY easy fight there for him. And he gets a European title too. Not bad.

Of course, Thaxton won't fight him now.

 

Yeah, because Khan is clearly above Euro level now. Thaxton is shitting his pants because Khan has been mixing it up with Manny. Thaxton's only chance of beating Khan was a lucky punch, but if the Pac Man can't put him over, what chance has Jon got?
