In my opinion these are the elite
(I show the styles they use)

Anderson Silva-- Brazilian Jiu Jitzu, Muay Thai, MMA

    Cung Le --Kung Fu/Sanshou, MMA

    Fedor Emelianenko --Sambo/Judo, MMA

    Manny Pacquiao-- boxing

If you took Cung Le off that list, I would agree with you.

Why is he not worthy of consideration? Sanshou champion, great collegiate wrestler, undefated MMA record and a tremndous athlete.

Not a single credible win at 185 to put him even amongst top 10 p4p. As much as I hate Lesnar he has more credibility than Cung Le right now.

I agree with you, - but you won't find any Cung Le appreciation on this forum. No one here gives credence to his victory over Shamrock and does their best to discredit it.

GSP and BJ Penn certainly deserve consideration amongst the best fighters in the world. Both of those guys are peaking right now. Their fight will go a long way towards establishing one or the other near the top of the P4P rankings.

No, Frank fought his fight and got punished for it. He fought just like has every fight for the past ten years and Cung Le showed he was the better man that night.

Is he a top amateur wrestler today? No. Is he a boxing champion? No. He is a K1 Grand Prix champion? No. Is he an MMA champion? No. He hasn't accomplished half of that the guys you posted with him have in their respective sport. He's got a long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same breath as the creme de la creme.

I'm not saying he's not a good athlete. He's just not an elite MMA fighter at this point. There are very few elite MMA fighters, and he's just not on my radar.

I have watched hundreds (if not thousands) of fights and I think Cung Le is very competitive with Anderson Silva

They've trained together and Frank always had hard time taking Cung Le down. Cung Le was just the better figher. It has nothing to do with ego.

He was a SanShou champion, but he beat Shonie Carter for the belt. I don't believe he ever won the world championship, which is an amateur tournament, though.

So it would make sense to list him as being one of the best San Shou fighters, but he doesn't fight San Shou anymore that I am aware of.
