I'm not quite sold yet. The man seems like a 15 round fighter. He stays in shape, 5-11. **** Manny vs Margo, Pavlik vs Margo sounds more even.

Margarito is a Welterweight, and has been for the majority of his career. His detractors sound like Margarito was an average 154lb fighter, so moved down to 147. They need to do their research.

Margarito is a throwback. He seems as though he can fight 15 rounds without even properly pacing himself, and has fought the best 147lb fighters of the past 5 years. Some wouldn't fight him, whose names will go unmentioned, but Margarito has fought everybody else and remained successful. He's more skilled than he often gets credit for, but I would say he's a throwback. Great for the sport.

Yeah, Santos dazed him, but he rocked Daniel too. The fight was stopped for a bogus cut. AM was turning it up when the stoppage occured. The fight was very close. It was good to see MArgarito against someone bigger than him and he still brought his fire. AM was around 154 during fight night and Daniel Santos was 170+.

    Margarito is a skilled brawler.

He is slow, but very tough. He has excellent stamina and one of the best chins ever. He would be a decent draw for any of the top welters in history, no doubt.

Too bad he has a chicken**** promoter who won't let him back near the only guy who can possibly whip him. Shane is a good opponent, but he ain't gonna do it. Cotto will get BLAZED 10 times out of 10. Kermit better go the **** home. Along with Berto, Oscar, Pac, Ricky, whoever.

Bottom line, he is great for the sport, and is definitely worthy of being called a throwback. But all the superhuman talk is quite ridiculous. He can and has been beaten.

That's Margarito's style and training, it's like a military training camp as his trainer already mentioned. Just go through hell in training camp then go in there and apply that on the opponent nonstop. He looked like he can go 20 rounds against Cotto that night.

I'm sold to Tony but I wouldn't call him a throwback because he's a typical latino pressure fighter, just that he's huge and physically/mentally impressive unlike JCC and other names of the past. Ricky Hatton is a throwback to the toughest welters-middles of the 40s and 50s like Lamotta, Graziano, Cerdan, DeMarco, Hopkins and Toney are throwbacks to the wisest old school LHWTs and HWTs such as Jersey JW and A Moore and M McCallum and Evander Holyfield is a throwback to the classiest, stoic, most well conditioned HWTs of the past like Ezzard Charles and Ken Norton. See where Tony Margarito fits in in hystory if you will and can...

I actually agree with you here. As much **** as I talk about Margo, it's only because I know he is much better than every other WW out there except for PW. Thos two should again, and again if necessary. And I know if Arum were to let him go, he would take that fight in a heartbeat.

It's a shame guys like Arum (and Goosen) are ruining the sport so they can make multi-millions every pop. What they don't understand is that if you let the best guys fight, people will become more interested in the sport as it will create better excitement.
