I like Adamek on points. He is faster, has a better chin, has better power, isnt afraid to get hit or exchange, but can also fight a very good techinical fight, which he himself has said he prefers. Likes to apply pressure and go forward. Good combinations, exciting and fun fighter to watch. Although it wouldnt surprise me if Adamek lands a nice shot or combo and finishes this one before the bell.
He is not faster than Cunningham, USS has a slight handspeed advartage and the footspeed isnt even close. Adamaek is a plodder compared to USS. USS will keep hiom coming forward, turnign him and landing the combinations on his way to a comfortable decision
Actually, I would argue that if anyone has a slight advantage in handspeed, it is Adamek! And although Cunningham has faster feet and better footwork, I reckon Adamek puts his combinations together more fluidly, too.
Yeah Steve's feet move fast when he is back peddling(which he will do alot of). I also favor Steve in the clinch and run department.
Cunningham is a slick fighter, this is true, but many people only have seen Adameks fights against Briggs, and Dawson, which give them a bad image of Adamek. But I do not think he is any quicker, especially in the handspeed department, also Adamek is no plodder. Adamek does not fight like he did in either of those fights normally. He likes a techinical fight, and is a smart fighter. He does like to mix it up if his opponent is willing to exchange, and he did so with Briggs, and beat a brawler in his own game. It is unlikely Cunningham will want to exchange with Adamek yep) so it will most likely be a pretty techinical fight. One big thing that Cunningham has over Adamek is reach.
You know Cunni will be watching the Dawson tapes. Whoever manages to assert their style will win. I'm still uncertain about Adamek's true power at this weight, especially against more durable comp. Both are proven to be capable of great fights and off nights. If both come in with their best stuff, we will have a FOTY candidate for sure. Prediction: The way all properly matched fights should be - too close to call.
Adamek is way too easy to hit with right hands. Paul Briggs, who really isn't much , couldn't miss Tomaz . Cunningham is no knockout artist, but he'll pile up the points over the Pole's low left. USS by UD.
I used to think Adamek, and I hope he does, but theres just something inside me that tells me Cunningham.
It sounds like your entire opinion of Adamek is based on two old fights with thesame fighter. That is not sufficient to analyze any boxer. He got hit because he chose or was forced to brawl with Briggs and that's what happens when you have an all out brawl (see Marquez-Vazquez fights and the like). At least from those fights, we know he proved his chin against a very hard puncher. Aside from these early fights, he has shown an ability to be patient and box, without being hit excessively. In addition, since moving up to cruiser, his defense has become more refined and he is a lot harder to hit. In moving up in weight class, he has retained his speed, improved his defense and did not seem to lose any power. To be sure, I expect that he will be hit more in this fight than he was against Bell, but if Cunni is not slick enough to significantly reduce Adamek's usual output, it will likely be lights out for him.
