Erik Morales has stated publicly that he believes Oscar De La Hoya took a dive in the Hopkins fight. Agree?

There is no way Oscar would ever be able to beat a bigger and better Bernard Hopkins.

So if he wanted to take a dive or not is of no consequence. He would have lot either way.

No matter how many times I look at that punch, slow motion, fast motion etc. I just don't see how it can knock someone out.

I'm a big Oscar fan, but I really have my doubts over that fight. I'm ashamed to admit it, but it really just looked like a nothing punch. And yes, I'm well aware of what a shot to the liver can do, but THAT punch didn't look like one of those.

He'd been knocked down 3 times hadn't he? He went down swinging in that fight, and when he realised he just couldn't do it, why bother going on? Morales is an absolute warrior, regardless of what happened in that fight, he'll never be regarded as a quitter.

That whole fight was a farce.

Look at the shots they trade, all weak as ****. Barely anything significant lands at all. It was a glorified sparring match. The commentators keep saying....."I think they'll step it up in the next round" but they never do, Oscar takes a dive.

It's always been dodgy because of the shouts of 'body shot' from ringside.

I don't know the reasons why, but it seems pretty clear to me. Getting KO'd by a liver shot is less embarrasing than getting dismatled to a KO. But Oscar faught on even terms most of the fight.

Add to the dodgy fight, that they shortly became business partners.

Just watch the highlights if you can find them, a few jabs, a couple of ho-hum Hopkins right hands...hardly what you expect from a unification fight. Also Oscar does those flashy flurries which look good but do fark all.

    1) He would achieve more by winning the fight.
    2) There is no way he would like to be affiliated with Hopkins after the fight cause that idea obviously would come up as it did.
    3) There are better and less controversial ways of "getting KO'd"
    4) It could become a stage up for Tito - Oscar II, which would be great in terms of money

that he took a dive, perhaps. that he even had a chance vs. B-hop, no way. america has better chances of having a black president. oh wait!
