Hard to call, Castillo had beaten Stevie Johnston and Bazan who were probably both top3 at the time so that may have established Linealage/Ring Championship

And to the guy who asked Mosley was never linear he was a belt holder

My understanding was that lineage is re-established by unification of the three main belts?

Otherwise it just becomes a more contested version of the Ring Championship.

No 1 and 2 in the division meeting establishes lineage, 1 and 3 arguably does too

That's the Ring Magazine criteria for their belt.

That doesn't make any sense for lineage. Who decides who the 1 and 2 are? How do they decide?

    Hopkins: 160 & 175
    Calzaghe: 168 & 175
    Barrera: 126 & 130
    Spinks: LHW & HW

How many divisions was Delahoya Linear?
135? (disputable no MAG or Navaro at 135)
    140 (yep)
147 (or was he, does beating Whitaker/Quartey when Trinidad is top2 may not do it, beating)
154 (fought Vargas but not Winky who unified the division and proved to be no1)

    Hmmmmmmmmmm

Neither Hopkins nor Calzaghe is considered linear at 175 as Erdei still holds that.

He beat Chavez and Whitaker to be linear at 140 and 147 respectively.

Then he beat Castillejo, who was linear at 154.

Its the fairest way to do it

Well Pre-1984 there was no IBF, WBO has only been around for 20years. They have no historical significance. The WBA and WBC champs may not be top3 fighters these days though.

There can be undertandable disputes Roy Jones unified all the main belts at 175 while DM was arguably linear. Juan Diaz unified all belts but Casamayor was Ring Belt holder.

I was answering To Sarge. But to begin with, IMO the whole lineal thing is as much BS as the P4P. You can be "lineal" champion at 135lbs, if you go up to 140 and become the champion and never fight @ 135 again, two boxers will fight for that tittle, PERIOD. Some people will argue and say the winner will not be a lineal Champ. SO WHAT???? What about if the "lineal" never come bag down in weight???? Does that mean the other two fighters are not good???? Do you really think PFB defeating Carlos Baldomir was a great victory??? I only care about who's the best at a certain weight at a certain moment. NO P4P bull****, or lineal Bull****. Thats just part of the marketing and promotions.
