This past weekend Oscar De La Hoya suffered a lopsided loss 9n a 147 lbs fight to Manny Pacquaio. Conventional wisdom says that he should retire, but as we know in boxing shoild retire dose not mean will retire. Looking back De La Hoya should have never taken this or any fight below 154. I realize there are not many big names at 154. However it is not natural for a 6 foot tall 35 year old man to weigh 145 or 147. No matter how in shape he might apear.
I don't want to take any thing away from Pacquaio, bit looking back he probbly won the fight when the contracts were signed and 147 was the agreed weight.
Should De La Hoya decide to fight again he will not be the PPV draw that he has been but he has enough name reconiction to atract some good fights at either 154 where I think with the exciption of Paul Williams he is still the best at that weight. Or at 160 where he has fought in the past even if he did strugule there. I think the most likely fight would be aginst Vernon Forest who might not be a house hold name but is as close to one as he can probbly get at this time, or a rematch with Fleiix Strum who he has a contiversiol win over.

Yea, I feel De La Hoya's pretty much done. Otherwise I'd say 154.

I'd like to see him retire or fight a grudge match with Tito. Anything else....what's the point.

Oscar is too proud/arrogant to fight a scrub as his farewell fight. And while Tito is not anything to write home about, I do think this is the way to go.
