He might. They might be looking at something soft for Pavlik after the Hopkins debacle. Wasn't there some talk of Duddy moving down to 154?
He is still unbeaten. He is blood and gut's with ball's of steel. He may not win a title but if he beat's the contender's..... He sell's a lot of ticket's so promoters like him. I like him.:happy
I like Duddy aswell but I dont think he will succeed and I have though this for a long time. I think he will be like another Gatti almost..he would get opportunities and T.V spots that his talent doesnt match.
If he could make 154 he would be better off, its not a terribly deep division. I still wouldnt favor him ever over Pwilly. Pavlik would knock him out early. As would AA at middle.
If success means beating a marquee list of contenders, former champs and current champs, unifying and getting on the pound for pound list, then no way is Duddy gonna ever measure up. He can win a title on his 3rd or 4th attempt depending on who he is matched with and whether he has the heart to stick around that long. He will earn losses, but if he can make sure they are GOOD losses (like Malignaggi losing to Cotto, Glen Johnson losing to B-Hop, etc) he can EVENTUALLY win a title and beat SOME good names. It's on him...does HE believe in himself is the biggest question.
How about 154 IBF Top ten 1. NOT RATED 2. NOT RATED 3. Cory Spinks 4. James Kirkland 5. Deandre Lattimore 6. Yuri Foreman 7. Z. Baysangurov 8. Alfred Angulo 9. Sechew Powell 10. Lukas Koneckny Fight's with Angulo and Kirkland would be Brutal.
**** me i didn't realize he was ranked 2cd at 160 WBO C. Kelly Pavlik 1. Sebastian Zbik 2. John Duddy 3. Marco Rubio 4. Khoren Gevor 5. Daniel Geale 6. Amin Asikainen 7. Dimitry Pirog 8. Steven Bendall 9. Dionisio Miranda 10. Sebastian Sylvester
He was but I think people see where he is at now. He is fun to watch and has fringe contender ability...not much more.
I Agree, he's all action and block's punches with his face , I think he's at a crossroad's now and has to tread carefully in the next 12-18 month's. I dont think he will beat Pavlik or Abraham so where will he go. Trying 154 might be tough now with Williams in there, maybe a shot at an aging Forrest in 12 month's time?
I'm undecided at this point. I don't believe he'll put himself in a position to legitmately earn one, but John carries a little fanbase and name with him so who knows.. It could happen.
