Using the guard the way that Winky does is extremely punishing. He's absorbed the force of thousands of punches over the years fighting that way. Even if you fight behind a shell, you're still taking the full impact of all those punches even if they aren't coming in direct contact with your head. Anyone curious should try fighting that way - it takes insane toughness.
Just like Hopkin's was clinically ******ed because of the way he was talking before the Pavlik fight when the collective General board was having a **** fit, right? I'm telling you, 9/10 out of our beloved boxing heroes today are punch drunk. I can tell from having watched many Youtube videos in my time. I am good with these things. Also, Koki Kameda!
I dont think he's slurring. He just talks like a cat from Florida. Although his voice sounded deeper but it seemed like he was probably doing a lot of yelling and just lost his voice.
I haven't watched the video here, but I noticed a while back that I thought Winky was slurring (just before the Taylor fight, I believe it was). If he's not slurring, he's somehow changed his manner of speaking so that it's more soft-spoken. But he definitely sounds different now than when he first came up IMO. People underestimate the amount of wars and hard fights Winky has had. Vasquez, Simon, Vargas, Mosley II, Taylor, Hopkins, and some other fights here and there... he didn't get out of those fights unscathed.
Definetely. Its like blocking a Margo body shot with your arm, even though it wont get you any points on the compubox chart, its still gonna have a big impact on you.
