I just rewatched this fight. I have to say as much as I love Pac and give him credit for this win there are some things I did not notice on fight night due to beer and emotion. 1) Oscar's legs are gone from the start. They are spread wide apart, he almost stumbles to reposition himself. 2) Oscar had the jab going and kept Pac at bay, was loosing the fight but was a bit more competitive than I remember him being up until 7th when it got ugly for him. 3) His reflexes are completely gone. You can see he wants to throw a combo, go to the body, but his hands don't move, he only goes forward by instinct, 4) His right hand is just about useless, making a full circle to his earliest days. It just hangs there like a chicken wing. 5) Oscar definately looks like the bigger man in there. All of this leads me to believe the Oscar that Pac fought was totally SHOT. We all were suspiscious of this but it took a Manny Pac to expose it. So what do you guys think? Was Manny that good or was Hoya that shot?
I'm a pac fan but let's not get carried away..both El Terrible and ODLH had that grim reaper of death look coming into the ring. They were massively underweight and shot. Right now, David Diaz and ODLH are making Pac look WAY more faster than what he appears.
a part timer who went "sd" with a caliber of mayweather and got a "w" on his last fight is not shot. past prime yes, weight drained, maybe but not shot. there is a difference between shot and somebody made you shot.
I hear what you're saying. I don't wanna be disrespectful to PAc cuz I love the guy. But seriously though, Oscar fought like Zelenoff in there. :huh
Combination of the two. Although De La Hoya was competitive with Mayweather not long ago, the weight issue completely changed him as a fighter, to the point where he appeared shot.
That's what I'm saying though, Oscar looked like **** from round 1, like someone's ******ed kid stumbled onto the stage or something. And that's BEFORE he got hit with anything.
Oscar was past his prime and that was a known fact going into the fight. You know, when damn near everyone expected him to win. I think it's apparent that he can not be effective below 150 pounds. Unfortunately for him, this fight was at a real, official weight class and not at "super oscar weight".
both! For oscar it's a combination of going down in weight, age and wrong game plan. Pac just made oscar look more shot than he actually was.
The problem with Oscar is that he is very hard to knock out. The man is famous for his chin. So he has to be pulled out of the fight because he is not going down from a ko. When a man, even a gigantic star, is taking head shots and cannot defend himself he has to be pulled. Oscar had nothing left, he gave a brief explosian of energy at the last round but Pac laid it on him again. But true, most boxers would have gone the extra round but most boxers don't have Oscar's bank account.
