It was only last year that I have had the time to be more involve in boxing. The first things I've read here on ESB(I wasn't a member then) was how great FMJ is; that he is the greatest for the past ---years; how he is the goat. Then you can also read how his fans/supporters ridicule all other fighters.
Now, I have to admire FMJ for his great achievements but sad to say that I can't be totally sold out to him untill he has proven his words that he is the "GOAT'' by fighting the best at WW.
If only he hadn't been that boastfull or that his fanatics had been a litte bit rational then maybe...

WW isn't even the weight class he belongs in. He dominated 130-135, that isn't enough for you? I didn't see Tito or Calzaghe moving up 5 weight classes & snatching titles

word people act like floyd is a natural ww....

theres really no point in him being in light welter or under (where he belongs at)

Ill never enjoy mma like i enjoy boxing

the clash of styles & ground work are what make mma wack
2 fighters will never have a aesthetically pleasing transaction because they have 2 different styles so you could never truly be a master of your style... because to be a master you have to capitalize off your opponents mistakes and if your opponent has a totally different style you could never fully understand what is happening from your opponents end

Ok.... this situation starts around the time of Floyds retirement after ricky hatton. Floyd Mayweather was supposed to fight Oscar De La Hoya but i think a combination of floyd not being entertained by the idea of the fight and just needing some time away from the sport of boxing forced floyd to temporarily retire from the sport and take some time off and enjoy himself...

While this is going on Oscar is forced to make a decision on who to fight...Oscar is no dummy and we all know that he wants to make the most money that he possibly can while making an event so oscar made the decision to allegedly take on the winner of cotto vs margarito when in reality he said that to be diplomatic and he really wanted to face cotto... Cotto vs oscar would present the oprotunity for oscar to truly cash in and ride out into the sunset against a true stallion... Cotto has already established himself as a mini star in superb performances against Zab Judah & Shane Mosley (both infront of enormous crowds and pro cotto crowds) both at madison square garden and both fight of the year contendors.... Oscar wanted that peurto rico vs mexico rivalry fight and he wanted cotto's ass on that dec 9th date...

So while oscar was waiting for his opprotunity to take a bite out of Cotto the tijuana tornado handled his business with cotto and completely took him out of the picture in emphatic fashion.... by doing this not only did he ruin the chances of cotto facing oscar ( which was out of the window as soon as cotto took a knee) but he put oscar in the unfortunate position of having to look else where for a opponent.. oscar would have fought hatton or paqman before fighting margarito.. margarito had yet to establish any fan base outside of hard core boxing and thats something oscar wanted to avoid so instead of taking the cotto - margarito winner (supposed to be cotto) oscar chose paqiou by default just because he was the #1 p4p fighter and was hotter (coming off wins) than hatton

meanwhile somewhere in michigan

Floyd mayweather is making it rain in his garage sitting back hoping cotto would beat oscar & margarito as well.... this fight would be basically the final stamp on floyd career to cement him into boxing lure... this is a fight floyd really was hoping would come off because it would be the nemesis every all time great needs and by the time cotto beat margarito & oscar de la hoya he would totally be a household name.... Margarito still has atleast 2-4 fights before he becomes a super star fighter because his only major fight was against miguel cotto.... every other fight prior to that was for the hardcore boxing audience... so when margarito beat cotto not only did that ruin oscars $$ but it also screwed up floyds as well.....

so now that paqman got his shot at oscar and prove he could handle himself at the weight class floyd does the same thing that oscar does... takes the p4p#1 fighter and the hottest boxer in the game... by fighting margarito it wouldnt make any sense because margarito hasnt established himself as large as paqman has or cotto was on his way to doing

I believe that if floyd & paqman face off and floyd doesnt completely retire and margarito somehow fights 2-3 times between now and a little bit after floyd and paq man face off.... that floyd vs margarito could come off...

because margarito has a fight against shane & cotto already planned.. both fights are high profile fights and will boost margarito's name into the sports world as a legitmant talent, exciting watchable fighter and a threat to floyd...

if margarito fights shane & wins, then cotto & wins, then another high profile boxer & wins (id say williams but at this point he isnt high profile enough either but maybe in 6-8 months he will be) there is a verrrry high chance that margarito will finally get his chance with floyd mayweather but margarito has to focus on handling his business....

so at the end of the day

floyd didnt retire beause he was afraid of cotto or margarito
oscar never lied
Paq man deserves whats coming to him
cotto would have got oscar & floyd if he beat margarito
and margarito is on his way to a major fight after cotto II & shane

A lot of people won't believe it because they wanna believe that Floyd is scared to fight certain fighters but this is what really happen...no name=no check.

yeah its silly to think this.. these guys have been fighting since they were children.... they dont want to do it any more but if they are they want to get their moneys worth

yeah it definitely would have

oscar vs cotto woudl have sold better than oscar vs paq and would have had a huge buzz between cotto being a wrecking ball and the pr vs mexico rivalry... the cotto would have **** on oscar and the buzz would have been that cotto t/ko'd oscar (assuming a t/ko happens) and floyd couldnt do it.. so floyd cotto would have happened by itself.... it just would have been up to floyd and cotto to sign the contracts... it would have been the fight of the generation.... the 24/7 buildup would have been amazing also becaue floyd and cotto's career's were almost bound to meet up eventually... margarito ****ed it all up lol
