Its incomparable. Boxing has a hundred year plus history and is a fistic science. UFC is more comparable with the WWE.

Its a street fight most of them are fighters who couldn't make it in boxing so turned to MMA.

Anyone can climb in the cage and fight but it takes someone special to climb in the ring and box.

as a boxing fan i agree with them things

but as a realist ill give ya five reasons why mma is begining to take over

1.the undercard. as soon as a ufc event begins with the first of 5 fights the place is allready packed. when people go to see mma there going to see a show when they go to see boxing there going to see one fight.

2.money. in this modern era of boxing boxers expect to be giving everything without having to work for it. because theres so many weights and so many titles 17x4= 68 boxers assume all they have to do is beat a couple of journey men and a few ex champs from 10 years ago and all of a sudden we owe them the big bucks. thats why theres no undercards like there used to be in the 70's 80's and early 90's. they feel like they dont gotta earn the right to be main event fighters. in mma there all hungry and determend to fight there way to the top everybodys willing to fight anybody anytime anyplace to prove they deserve the big paydays.

3.promotion. as nate campbell once said there is no such thing as real promoter in boxing anymore. without hbo, showtime or any other big tv network boxing will die because so called promoters today are afraid to get there hands dirty u need to spend money to make money all promoters today just want a get rich quick scheme the easy way to an easy dollar. dana white and partners bought the ufc for 2 million dollars they invested over a hundred million and now are worth over a billion. no risk no reward

4.testing the prospect before investing in the prospect. this brings me back to reason 3 in boxing we hav guys like amir khan, jeff lacy, rey bautista and so many others who were forced down our troats. we were told how great these kids are and how stupid we would be to ignore them. so they were put on big cards repeatedly and fed useless oppenents repeatedly untill the hype was enough so that they could be headining there own show for some meaningless abc title and we all pay the money only to see them fail because they were not guided in the right way. in mma this dont happen you gotta prove your worth from the get go thats why u see most guys in the ufc by there 12th fight there either in line for a title shot cause they earned it or there back wer they started cause the failed fightin someone as good or better than they wer within there first dozen fights. you gotta test your prospect before you invest in your prospect

5.they give a bonus for fight of the night and knockout of the night aswell as fighter of the night. nothing wrong with a little bit more incentive and motivation to get a guy up for a performance. but boxing is strickin with greed you'l never see a promoter putting hands hands in his poket to fork out some cash like that as i said its allways the easy way to make an easy buck

the funny thing is boxers arnt fighters they are boxers mma fighters are true fighters because they dont have restrictions. the sport is also still young which is why we dont have epic fights like gatti ward etc. it still comes down to prefference. i like mma more because at a moment the fight can change. you dont see as many one punch kos in boxing as you do in mma. you can also have a slick submission at anytime. you will alll think what you want and thats cool so will i.

the one thing i will give you is michal buffer.......bruce buffer sucks.

Bingo. That rolling around on the ground **** is ridiculously DULL. Before I had even seen this **** people were telling me it was "brutal." Then I watched a few matches and I couldn't BELIEVE how boring it was. Give me a FIGHT, with people actually throwing PUNCHES, anytime!!

I will say this, though. These organizations promote their product much better than boxing. I was in Wal-Mart the other day and there was video after video on this crap. Boxing?? Zip, nada, zilcho. Boxing fans have to search like hell to get fight videos. These people put their product in the stores relentlessly. Boxing could learn from that.

I've been complaining about this for years. Look at the Oscar/Manny fight. It seems HBO's main agenda is to put up and comers facing lousy opposition on their undercards. Even if these fights sometimes turn out to be entertaining, they have no appeal when promoting the card.

This can be related back to the greed factor. It's like they don't want to give us fans too much bang for our back. We're supposed to be glad we get one good fight on the card (and sometimes not even that if the main event turns out to be a dud).

As for the folks complaining that rolling around on the ground is boring, then you definitely shouldn't watch it. Of course, it's incredibly simplistic to call it rolling around on the ground. Tell an Olympic wrestler he's just "rolling around on the ground."
The skill required to execute an effective ground game is considerable, and can be immensely entertaining when there is possibilities for submissions and/or ground and pound.
Granted, there's no doubt some MMA bouts do end up being rather boring on the ground with neither fighter doing much in the way of offense. Of course, think about some awful boxing matches over the years that turned out to be hugfests. Would it be fair to judge the whole sport on that?

And if one's main objection is that they think two guys on the ground looks "gay", then I suggest they also avert their eyes during clinches in boxing when, GASP, the two shirtless guys actually touch each other!! Yeesh, grow up.

Whats your point? Get the **** out of the MMA forum because obviously MMA doesnt interest you and are incapable of being objective.

MMA to me is more exciting, its a young sport hence every matchup is often unpredictable. To me they are the best pure fighters in the world sans guns, knives etc..

Fighters like Fedor for sure will kill 5 of the top heavyweights of all time in succession in one night. In a way thats what makes me like it more.

Right now MMA is very young, and as long as Dana doesn't **** it up, I dont see how it cannot surpass boxing when all the youths I know are aware of GSP and The Spider much more so than Manny PAcquiao (who is the torch bearer for boxing at the moment)

MMA is also more accessible, you have grass, a mat..you can train..
So basically all of these talented, athletic youngsters instead of opting to box, will do MMA...more talent pool in the future, also more money.

**** you idiot, name 10 MMA fighters who are failed boxers, hell...name 10 fighters period.

You are a ****ing moron, it does not take anything "special" to climb into a ring in box compared to MMA.

It takes a license and somebody willing to let you, in either case.
