Anybody have cunningham winning the fight

I thought the card was a bit wide for the one judge, something like 112-116. It was a really close fight. Three knockdowns for Ademek but Cunningham got in some good clean shots and had decent movement. If Cunningham would have kept up a good hard jab throughout then i think he would have had it.

Ademek took those flush shots really well, I was impressed.

Dr. Clark Sammartino (114-112 Cunningham): 10-9
Shafeeq Rashada (115-112 Adamek): 10-9
John Steward (116-110 Adamek): 10-8

And Steward gave Adamek a 10-9 round in the 2nd, despite the KD. So, the guy with the wide margin for Adamek actually did Cunningham a favor in that round.

I would keep an eye on Dr. Clark Sammartino being named to judge championship fights I was wagering on in the future if I were a gambling man.

 

Some very colse rounds. Cunningham was throwing more, landing also more but with smaller connnect % and not as effective, although some were flush on the chin. Adamek def won it on the 3 Kds, without the Kd's it was either 6-6 or 7-5 Cunningham.

 

The best way for someone who felt Cunningham won the fight to defend that conclusion, IMO, is to say they scored it in this manner (or something very similar):

"Cunningham won 7 rounds of the fight"
That starts SC off at a 'base' (no two point rounds, deductions, ...) score of 115 -- (7 rounds won x 10 {70}) + (5 rounds lost x 9 {45}) = 115

And it puts Adamek at a base of 113 points -- (5 rounds won x 10 {50}) + (7 rounds lost x 9 {63}) = 113

After this, you say of the three knockdown rounds, only one (Round 2) was a 10-8 round. I can't see any way in which Round 2 is not a 10-8 round, although the judge who gave the fight 116-110 to Adamek did have Round 2 as 10-9. However, there's no chance to justify all three KD rounds being 10-9, that won't fly. So if you have to pick a 10-8 round, you say it was round 2.

Ok, so then you take off the extra point from SC's score for Round 2, leaving you with this:

SC: 114
TA: 113

I think this scoring is wildly off, but it and the way the judge who gave the fight to Cunningham 114-112 (assuming SC won 8 rounds, or 8 of 9 rounds he was not KD in) are about the only possible ways you can try to claim SC won the fight. You either have to say TA only won 1 of the 8 rounds he didn't knock SC down in and give him two 10-8 rounds or else you have to say TA only won 2 of the 8 rounds he didn't knock SC down in and give him just one 10-8 round. There aren't many other possibilities.

Great champion. I a Steve Cunningham supporter scince the Wlodarczyk fights(not much a fan but I supported him, hes a overall nice guy and good fighter, hard to hate him)

 

I scored it as it was happening and had Adamek by 3, and I had no horse in the race and it turned out I was basically splitting up the close rounds. Several of the rounds were close, but I don't see any chance that Cunningham swept the non knockdown rounds. I wasn't alone - not one person scoring it on the thread had it for Cunningham except for a dude who came in 2/3 of the way through.

What I saw was Cunningham getting drug into Adamek's fight and him abandoning the jab too much, throwing too many wild shots, and not utilizing his reach advantage near enough. That isn't to take away from his effort and heart at all because I'd watch a rematch in a heartbeat, but Cunningham lost a close fight. Getting knocked own 3 times will do that to you.

 

Showtime and HBO are screaming for a rematch! Stay tuned! That would be a $$ fight!

I had the fight the same, without the knockdowns Adamek would've been close in my eyes.

 

Adamek won clearly, 4 points on my card.

I didn't score this fight as I was too busy just enjoying it. Cunningham seemed to control the majority of the fight. Three knockdowns is a large deficit to come back from.

 

Best fight i've seen in a long time the right guy got the nod..

 

I thought most of the rounds were extremely close and hard to score. Adamek applied constant pressure, while Cunningham fought in eye-catching spurts. I probably wouldn't have argued with the decision either way, but three knockdowns is hard to overcome if you don't decisively dominate the rest of the fight.
