Possibly, but I don't know if he survives the politics of the 1940's as a young black prospect. Walcott, Charles, and a number of others sustained a great deal of losses, inspite of having faced men who were inferior in ability.. From an actual talent perspective, I think the answer is obvious. We would have seen the Julio Cesar Chavez of the 1940's heavyweight division.......
Perhaps he can repeat what Marciano did, but There is always that off night here or there, Fraizer at 2-0 would be face 23-0 Ross, or a few 16-0 type of fighters early. Not sure if a SUPER Green Fraizer could get by that. But who knows?
Not true. Marciano had a better Right hand, better stimia for his late round rallys, better one punch knockout power, and perhaps a better chin. Among a few other things. Maybe better defense.
Yeah, chin, single shot knockout power... Sure. His defense wasn't as good as Frazier's, all things considered.
Marciano did have better defense, and was two handed puncher, also more ko power, better chin. I think Rex Layne had chance to beat Frazier, he was better than Bonavena, similar in some ways to Oscar. I don't see Frazier beating Walcott or Charles.
I concur. Marciano had a better right hand than Frazier, but best punch to best punch I don't think much separates them power-wise, Frazier was bigger, faster (of foot and hand), had better defense had just as much heart just as much stamina, was just as tough, didn't cut like Marciano did and overall he beat better competition. I give Frazier the edge in most categories and consider him the better, more effective, and more skilled fighter. I also think Frazier would beat Marciano head to head.
In theory he could, but the million dollar question is can Frazier retain the hunger and consistency in training that set Marciano apart from many others? We already saw that Frazier got sloppy and deteriorated as early as six years into his career, which was when Marciano just retained the title against Walcott. Of course that first Ali fight did take a lot out of him, but still.
This is my take. Frazier did not retain his hunger after he won the title so I tentativley say he ends up 48-1. If I have to take a guess where he looses I say that he assumes Ezzard Charles to be a spent force, turns up overweight and gets outpointed. Another possible scenario is that he looses one of his early fights through being overmatched.
