Kellerman: The difference between you and W. Klitscko is a difference in toughness. When you got knocked down you always got up.... Lewis: Lol! God damn you Max!!
Oh Max. Lennox stayed down for the full count against Rahman. Wlad has never been down for 10 seconds.
The best Lewis/Kellerman exchange was during Calzaghe-Bika. Lewis: That was a dirty move, I wouldn't have done that. Kellerman: Michael Grant would disagree that you wouldn't do that. Lewis (long pause): No comment.
Yeah... just quite a bit backwards. Considering that Wladimir has ALWAYS gotten up, and Lennox has never continued after a knockdown.
i acutally agree to an extent. i feel lennox had more toughness and several other intangible advantages over today's wlad. today's wlad is a notch below lennox imo for those reasons.
I think the big difference between Wlad and Lewis is that Wlad does not seem to like boxing very much. Wlad gets up, but it seems like he does it because that's what he's supposed to do. Wlad does not seem to enjoy himself at all in the ring. I'm sure Wlad does like doing this, but you just don't get that sense from his fights and his demeanor in the ring. Physically getting up aside (Lewis was only down twice), Lewis was tougher than Wlad. Lewis could be cautious, but he was also able to fight it out when needed. Lewis did not panic when someone rushed him. Lewis was more likely to rough people up and adapt. Lewis had more of a fighter's spirit in him.
How many times you are knocked down doesn't matter. Wlad could have only went down once against Sanders... and not got back up to go down 3 more times. Would that have made it better?
i disagree. imo he does enjoy it. u listen to people who work with him and they swear it's his passion in life. his 'lackluster' style imo is not because of his chin but rather due more due to stamina. people forget, he's a huge man and these guys tire quicker. that's a lot of flesh to push around. Did u see Haye against Barrett? He looked very tired at the end and he's only 215 pounds. Wlad learned from his losses to Purrity and especially Brewster he cannot go balls to the wall. He must pace himself and fight his fight. He understands his physical limitations about as well as anyone today. He will never beat himself again. But I do agree lewis was tougher and that's why i will probably always rate wlad below him. I wouldn't say he's a poor man's version cause i think wlad does a few things better than lennox. however, as a complete fighter, Lewis was better, no question
Bernard Hopkins is considered boring fighter, and plethora of other great fighters. Would you say he doesn't enjoy boxing? Boring doesn't mean ineffective or you lack of passion. I would say Wladmir is more of methodical fighter who brakes you down rather than try to immediately chop your head off.
