If Pacquiao loses to Hatton, he doesn't get the Mayweather fight. The Mayweather fight is the legacy fight if that's what he's after. Big money, and incredible legacy.

it'a a good move. even in the event that pac loses to pbf, the fight w/ hatton can still happen since hatton already got KTFO'd by mayweather. if pac fights hatton first and maybe loses, then a fight with pbf will never happen.

The way you guys keep framing this is so dark and gloomy. It's also an ass-backwards angle that defies what the odds will be, and like a Sportsbook taker told me in Vegas - the oddsmakes are usually right. Pacquiao will be the favorite over Hatton. Where are the guys that like a good fairytale campaign? Pacquiao is on a historic march right now. He should fight the guy he's more likely to beat first, not someone who is probably going to embarrass him.

I agree with San Rafael -- I think Pac would be better served, all around, by first fighting Hatton and then taking on Mayweather.

That said, Team Pac has been doing pretty well these days, and I don't think Roach would try to make this fight unless he had some real confidence Pac could get the job done. Guess we'll find out soon enough if he's right if this is the next fight for the Pac Man.

Now is the time as Floyd will be coming back rusty.
If Pac loses, he can still fight Hatton without losing his luster.
    Right move!

I was re-watching the ODLH-Pac fight and the PBF-Hatton fight and I really am starting to think that Pac would wreck Hatton. I like Ricky a lot, but I don't think he's prepared to deal with Pac's speed and movement, or power for that matter. Throw in the southpaw angle and Pac's like 1.5" reach advantage (though Hatton is like 1.5" taller and naturally larger) and I think it could be a long night for The Hatter if he meets Pacquiao.

If Hatton could maul Pac (as he did with Tszyu) he would give himself a chance to win, but I'm not sure even those tactics would save him from Pac's speed and activity.

Amen - and, interesting - that's a good point. If Roach is wrong though I'll hate him and he undoes everything he's riding high on at the minute.

Definately, I could see it. I'll be curious to find out how each takes the other's power. That's huge.

Like I said, I am fine with Pac and Floyd fighting, but I wish he'd fight Hatton first.

Why the hell would Pac fear Hatton if he wants to fight Mayweather? Roach said it himself - Hatton got knocked out by Mayweather, how good is he? Pac wants a real challenge, he knows that a Hatton fight would just be for money.

For the money? Probably not. The Hatton fight comes with merchandise.

    :good

I feel exactly as you do about this possible decision by Team Pac. Let's just hope that they know what they're doing and make (a) smart decision/decisions here.

If Hatton can lay some leather on Pac, and he probably could, who knows how Pacquiao will deal with that? I respect Hatton fully, and know that if he can get in his groove during a bout he is capable of beating anyone. Though PBF was coming on at the time of the stoppage, Hatton certainly didn't do anything to embarrass himself during that match (well, besides having his head hit the turnbuckle after the check left hook), and that was at the 'Hatton sucks' weight of 147.
