Any young fighter in thier prime would go a looooong way towards convincing true knowledgeable boxing fans that he can actually hang with a HOF fighter not in semi-retirement. It's Manny's own fault for cherrypicking.
2 of my recent favorites :think Corrales never handled speed especially well, and the in and out game Manny displayed against DLH wouldn't suit Corrales well either. So I would say Pacquiao would win. Unless, Pacquiao languished on the inside too much, because I definently think if given enough chances Corrales could connect. I'd go for Pacquiao though... One thing is for sure. Corrales would not quit.
Pac would be a slight favorite, but Chico had the eraser so it's a really dangerous fight for the Pacman.
I'm sorry but this post doesn't show how "every single factor points to a Corrales victory". Chico has shown numerous times that he always had problems with people who had speed and movement. PBF, Casamayor and even Freitas proved it before he gassed out. I'm quite surprised how you seem to deem it impossible for Pac to utilize his movement and great speed in this fight against a usually stationary target like Chico. Oh hold on, is it because no matter how great Pac's movement is one shot from Chico would spell trouble for Pac right? See, the one thing you conveniently fail to see is the simple fact that Chico always had a suspect chin himself. Your quick to point out how Pac's chin wouldn't stand up to Chico's punches and yet you refuse to address Chico's chin problems if ever Pac hits it especially now that Pac has further proven that he's a big puncher himself after the events of Dec. 6. So what's the deal? Not to mention that Pac hits things straight while Chico liked to hook his shots. Who do you think will land first and more often? Your also overrating Chico's supposed height and reach advantages since he's already been troubled enough by opponents smaller than him. And please, don't compare Chico to JMM as they have different styles. You seriously think Chico would be able to do to Pac what JMM did? What just because JMM supposedly "outboxed" Pac that any good-great boxer with a name would also be able to? Is JMM that low to you that anyone can do what he did? Bottom line is Chico is a great fighter, this fight would be great and even if I think Pac wins, Corrales still has a big chance to win this. But don't tell us that "every single factor points to a Corrales victory" as that is false and shows your bias towards him.
All three men are naturally bigger than Pacquiao, and in the case of PBF and Casamayor. far superior boxers to Pacquiao. With Manny being sparked out below 130, and with Marquez (who is just an average puncher) hurting Manny in both of their fights, I see a concussive Lightweight in Corrales troubling Manny if he lands his left and right often. Manny is not elusive, he is not a master boxer, and he won't be running around the ring like Freitas. I see Manny getting tagged. I always have to smile when people go on about Pacquiao's power. Even at 130, Pacquiao was not a concussive puncher. He scored most of his knockouts with accumlation, and there is currently no evidence to suggest Manny has carried any power at all up to 135 let alone higher. David Diaz was a punching bag, and he took an unbelievable beating before eventually being stopped..on accumlation. Corrales was put on ass against the likes of Floyd, who finds angles better than Pacquiao with his counters. Corrales got up everytime, and was not really ever seriously hurt. In the case of Castillo, well, he hit very hard at 135, and therefore a lot harder than Pacquiao. I think Corrales could well be knocked down, but he would get up just like he always did. If Corrales lands and drops Pacquiao, it may well be a different story. Manny has stayed down before, and Corrales..I must stress..is about 3x harder hitter than Manny has ever tasted before. It would be to much. The overall point is, Manny has never been elusive and has to occasionally take shots to land his. I see Manny landing a lot of shots on Corrales, but I also see Chico's hooks landing and his straight right with Manny baring in with that bull**** one-two. Juan Manuel is an exceptional boxer, and took Manny to school. Chico is a concussive puncher...at 135...and would be able to land enough on Pacquiao for a victory. In my opinion. I think the majority of factors in this fight point to Corrales victory. He is the naturally bigger man, hits twice as hard as any of Pacquiao's former opponents, reach and height advantage, and was a great fighter in his own right. Chico by KO. :good
Any stationary target is deadman walking against Pac. Chico fits this description. And there really isn't anything about Corralles's style that would trouble Pac. It's boxers with great timing, movement, and handspeed that gives Pac problems. Chico was great, but he was never known for any of those attributes. Really, Diego would be hard pressed to even land anything. It would be just a repeat of the ODLH fight. Pac's speed and in-and-out style befuddles Chico into a prolonged beating. Chico's courage keeps him up for 8 rounds, but the accumulative brutalization leaves his corner no choice but to stop the fight.
pac almost always loses fantasy match-up, too bad. :-( even against barrera he will lose, but in reality, he won't. and reality is more important :deal btw, pac by decision or late round stoppage.
I would favor 2008 version of Manny vs prime Corrales..but Corrales has definitely got a punches chance. I think Jose Luis castillo beats Pac though
