Does anybody know if the 1,25 mill tickets in DLH-Pacman were in US only?

Probably, because Hopkins is a dirty cheat... but they are boxers so why would it happen? When they did fight, Hopkins tried to drag it down to that sort of level and got beat. Get over it.

They need to put exciting fights on period. Make it exciting! That will keep the fan base staying!(referring to his UFC comment) Joe just needs to shut up and retire! B Hop looking to stir the pot for a fight...

  5. I dont think Joe said anything in that article that is not 100% true. It may not be pretty - but at least it's all accurate. Boxing is losing it's luster because so many fans struggle to understand the politics - all the different belts etc.

Hatton is the 140lb champ - he has no actual world belt... Same with Joe - it confuses many.

Fighters are rapidly declining in skills because boxing doesnt have a pull to it for the young guys - at least not professionally. You have all the amateur organisations doing it's best to keep everyone amatuer until they're nearly 30.

How many boxers are world champions under 25? 3? Most are becoming champions/recognised around the age of 30, and that's when they generally start to decline.. Joe and Bhop are wonderful yet unfortunate exceptions - not many can do what they do at their age, yet people see them continue to dominate - and think they can do it.. Few boxers take risks any more - it's about protecting the 0, or fighting lesser fighters to make your actual numerical record look something spectacular. This can be applied to 95+% of boxers mainstream.

Right now people want to see multiple weight champions - that's where the credit is really, no one wants to see a guy take on all comers in his division and prove they can defend titles. If a guy can say he's a 4 weight champion, but has mixmatched his competition, whereas a guy can be a two belt holder in his division with 11 defenses against decent comp - the multiweight champion is generally regarded higher. There are so many politics involved with boxing that few great prime matchups are made because of exactly that fear - losing a fight which in today's fickle age - every loss means you're exposed.

Should Joe lose to Dawson - he'd be considered exposed and a fraud etc. etc. It's stupid - but that would be the case. No one likes a winner, and it's the same with every great boxer that keeps on winning. It's when they're gone that they're appreciated. (think Lennox Lewis for prime example).

Perhaps when we can learn to truly appreciate what fighters are doing now - boxing will start to come back into the mainstream... Maybe....

What if, as I think you'll agree - Joe takes on Bhop (again) and Dawson, and wins both handidly. At best you scored the first JC/BH fight 8-4 to Joe, giving him all the swing rounds (based on activity?). You're aware of how good Joe is at adapting, and you also know that at this point in their careers, fighting Joe isnt going to be great for bernard - fighting someone that throws punches from all angles, fast and is just stupidly hard to try to time consistently over 12 rounds - not great for Bhop. So if Joe wins that one - no more arguments over the first fight.

Then joe does what you suggested - fights dawson. The next star of boxing. Based on Dawson's inactivity in fights at times, and his real struggle to overcome Johnson - he may have won the fight, no arguments, but he wasnt comfortable at all. Going up against the best fighter in the division - I'd be hard pressed to imagine how Dawson wins.

What's that going to do for boxing then? Kessler, Dawson all have losses to Joe (old man), Taylor loses to a limited Pavlik - who then lost badly to Hopkins (i refrained from saying humiliated/exposed by a VERY VERY OLD MAN - although that is the reality). That then casts doubts on Taylor - Had Hopkins been a little younger and not struggled with stamina due to the weight - Taylor's wins wouldnt have happened.

Great outlook for the future of boxing stars (I'm not totally disagreeing with you - I'd like to see the rematch and the Dawson fight, I'm a major Joe fan and think he'd be well positioned to win both very handidly as long as he doesnt slip further in his skills).

I also dont think Dawson is the best around - Kessler I believe would handle Dawson fairly comfortably, but in the division - aside from Hopkins, there is no one else - I agree.

Hopkins couldn`t draw flies to the dump. He should have tried to retain some dignity after doing all that gangsta tough guy jailbird sh*t and then getting his arse kicked by Joe.

Its funny to see the king of sour grapes tell someone to shut up, Hopkins has been a cryer for years and since he went with Hoya has made $$$$ but the fact is they all cash in on there names and do nothing on the pay per view to build up NEW exciting fighters and the sport of boxing....they are making money on there names but nothing for the sport

joe C just needs to go away..theres really no one for him to fight and the wins he is accumulating are questionable because of the age of the fighters...he missed the boat already by hiding in the UK for so long...hes got his nice clean record and he can always say he wasnt beaten. But you cant erase history by beating old fighters.

They laid into him on ITV yesterday. The irony is he's really helped the sport in Britain over the past few years, hopefully he hasn't completely burnt his bridges - I'm sure he wants a job in media or promotion after he retires, he's been very foolish.

Yanno I just had a thought.......

What if Calzaghe was really as good as he thinks he is ? What a hell of a giant killer we'd have.. One problem.... He aint nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. His new name should be Mickey Mouth.
I saw Calzaghe's nut huggers say " Joe kicked Hopkins ass" . But he didnt he was awarded a dubious split decision he didnt deserve.
Then they claimed Nard cheated and is a dirty fighter... ROFL I dont think Calzaghe threw a dozen LEGAL punches the whole fight. He slapped (hit with inside of the glove) an illegal blow in boxing. not to mention the LOW slaps Cal threw plus the behind the head rabbit slaps.
Be a man Calzaghe rematch Nard hell he'll even come to wales to kick your ass
