Last night I tried to score the fight by "Traditional" means, I counted only the effectiveness of the punches, ring generalship and all that. I ended up scoring the fight 1 point in favor of Oquendo.

    BUT

Normally if a fighter needlessly holds, or uses it as a tactic to avoid fighting in a range he doesn't feel comfortable, I see that as a negative, and may not give him the round as he is controlling but via illegal tactics(why holding is so accepted in boxing, when it is against the rules is beyond me)

There have been several fights where the judges have been with me on this, but not many, so last night I expected the fight to go to Oquendo, and was ready to concede that my man Toney lost, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Toney take the split D. The judges owed him one after the first Peter fight anyway, and while Toney held some late, Oquendo did his best Ruiz impression for the first 9 rounds and even some into the final rounds.

    Go Toney!

Toney vs Valuev. This is the fight I want. Toney can win this one and look good doing it.

I'll take Toney vs either Klitschko, but thats gonna be a rough night.

    Lets see Toney vs Valuev!:happy

I am a big Toney fan but I thought he lost the fight clearly by 2-3 points.

However, I am okay with the decision because Oquendo disgusted me with all of his holding. There's no place for that in boxing, especially considering how he pushed Toney off and then land punches on the break. It might be a smart tactic, but it's awful to watch and should be illegal.

Toney against Valuev ? Are you outta your mind ??? Valuev has a chimpanze kinda reach, would jab away at Toney from the outside all night !! Toney on the other hand likes to counter and fight on the inside...It just doesn't add up good in Toney's favor !

Not really, that made him even after getting a gift draw against Hasim Rahman in their first fight.

And i take it that Valuev - Toney remark was a joke. :yep

I think judges like money, not Toney in a special way.

This is the kind of fight I'm always shocked people are surprised/upset about. Neither guy did anything! It wasn't like Oquendo landed any good punches either. I actually had Toney winning by a point because I gave him all the first four rounds and then two later ones. It wasn't a robbery either way, It was a fight where neither guy did anything and those terrible versus announcers just beat a dead horse the whole night.

I mean, Toney looked terrible, but this was no travesty of justice.

You gotta watch the entire career.

Toney was also the victim of bad decisions: McCallum I, Griffin I and II, Peter I.

The judges like him because he buys the burgers for them at mickey d's.
So many judges like him because he is never out of the place and is buying them for every judge.

The judges never liked Toney, but yesterday (two of) them got it right, Toney by close decision. Toney looked terrible, but still Oquendo didn't land **** except for a few jabs - and remember Oquendo always makes his opponents look crap, even when he loses, because he comes in to survive, not to win, which means he holds and runs and that's it. Still, disappointing performance by Toney, if he can't get into decent shape he should hang em up, our patience isn't endless..

Toney's been involved in more controversial (or at least debatable) decisions than just about anyone in this era. I haven't seen enough of Glen Johnson or Sven Ottke's fight to compare, but look at all the debatable decisions that Toney has been in.

    McCallum 1-2
Johnson (I didn't see the debate, but others have disagreed)
    Tiberi
    Griffin 1-2
    Rahman 1
    Peter 1
    Batchelder
    Oquendo
