Cotto tried the exact same thing and paid a hefty price for it.

Kind of discouraging to throw a right hand when you know the guy is gonna walk right through it and nail you with a counter right.

He might win but he's gonna go through hell to do so. Risky fights don't sit well with lil Floyd.

agreed but I think floyd beating margo would hurt his marketability if he fights margo before pac because how unexciting it would be just my opinion

Nope. Margarito tucks his elbows. You aren't going to hold onto him without eating some body shots. The man prepares for the fight very well and is vastly underrated.

The one way Margarito can be beaten is if you can shake him up. If you can stop him even for a second or two to slip away then you can beat him. If lil Floyd doesn't have that pop to stun Margarito he's gonna get knocked the **** out. I think he already knew that too.

I don't think he is underrated he just got into the big welterweight talk like 3 years ago besides shouldn't he be at middleweight floyd and pac r legends cause they go up weightclasses to fight when is the great margo going to do that talk about fighting the smaller man when margo should be a middleweight

If PBF doesn't fight Margarito, then he shouldn't campaign at Welterweight. He reminds me of when RJJ chose the 'weakest' heavyweight in Ruiz and 'ducked' Wladimir Klitschko. It will always loom over his head. Anyway, he did great @130 and good @135. I guess he isn't looking to be great at 147. He doesn't have to. He'll probaly get his block knocked off.

Daniel Santos managed to hurt Margarito, forcing him to protect his head.

Against most guys Margarito tucks his elbows and eats the headshots. When he fights like that it is very hard to grab him and tie up his arms.

Williams probably landed some hard shots too which forced Margarito on defense. Although to this day I still think Margarito underestimated Williams and planned to throw one punch at a time.

Oh and the elbow thing. I don't know about you but as far as I know that is illegal and will be watched for if he does it excessively.

i guess we'll know once it happens. it would be a nightmare for floyd. it makes me laugh when the margo-baldomir comparisons come up. sure, margo will have a tough time catching floyd, but once he has floyd against the ropes, which will be very few times, margo will hurt him and hurt him bad. i also have a feeling margo would put added pressure especially for floyd. it will be a close fight going the distance because where margo has his chin, floyd has his defense that's why i would see it going the distance, depending on how floyd's condition is if he does make his return

Mayweather would whip Margarito's ass - God knows why he didn't take the fight.

I'd say Cotto and Mayweather have compareable power. If Mayweather didn't have the hand problems then he'd probably be more offensive.

I however do not think for a second that Mayweather can hurt Margarito. No amount of speed is going to make up for that. See for the most part even a guy like Chris Byrd at heavyweight was able to stun opponents. Even if he didn't punch the hardest. That second or two would buy him enough time to slip out.

When Cotto hit Margarito flush he could not escape because Margarito not only took the punch, but insisted on punching with Cotto, countering his lead effectively. Mayweather has speed but he isn't that fast. If he elects to slip out without putting something on Margarito he is going to suffer the same fate Roger suffered at the hands of JC superstar.
