Is a tad overrated? I am not saying he doesn't have good power, but, he's not a devasting puncher nor a KO puncher. I can't beleive how long Rahman lasted. Either his power is overrated or He's not punching with full power and putting his whole body behind it. basically not punching with confident and mean intentions. what say you?
Its not overrated. He just doesnt punch with KO intentions. His power is enough that he can box methodically and he still going to stop his opponent from mounting any sort of offense each time. Look at how he relaxed he is (and yes I know he can be robotic looking at the same time) when he throws. He doesnt pivot into the whole punch nor put all of his weight behind it. Yet his punches still snap his opponents heads back and they are always visibly bothered by them. His jab alone stings like hell. Rahman looked discouraged after the first round when he felt the jab. If he went all out he would be ****ing people up in the first round, but he would also tire out very quickly. He is 6'6 and has an enormous frame, you cant keep up that kind of pace round after round.
Everyone knows Wlad is hesitant. He has power, but will not put it on the line until the opponent is virtually done. I would like Wlad to box with far more consequence, but then he may get randomly stopped of course.
No, I think he's got great power, it's just that he's conserving it so much. He still seems very concerned about punching himself out...I don't think he should be, I think he has better stamina than he thinks.
He's got power. He's just grown a tad cautious. (IMO, his brother possesses the most power in the division. He just doesn't throw to the max, ever)
I think he does have 1-punch KO power, he's shown it as well, he just doesn't dish it out all that often. Seems to worried of letting himself be open to a counter or to conserve energy.
He's got great power. That's the right word. He's just not up for commiting to the type of power shots that make the best of this power. He needs someone to drag him out of his comfort zone.
He needs someone good enough to drag him out of his comfort zone. As of right now there isnt anyone at HW that is good enough to do that. This is actually an interesting point if you consider it. Wladimir is a very excellent boxer. For his size, he moves extremely well, has very good footwork, uses the ring, has an amazingly effective jab. Considering that, there is no HW that is going to "outbox" him. It would take someone with ATG skills that is as good a boxer as he is. And no Im not going to start with hypothetical matchups. My point is that Wladimir is too good of a boxer for anyone at HW to outbox him at this time. So thats leaves you with basically with a powerpuncher. The problem with this, is that the traditional gameplan for beating a powerpuncher is to "outbox" them. And the way most powerpunchers get beat is usually by being outboxed. So that really doesnt leave us with anyone that presents a challenge to Wlad at this time.
Because of past losses and the learning aspect, Vlad fights each fight carefull but he dominaates without risk. I think a speedier guy may have a better chance but who knows
he's obviously not punching with full power which is very easy to see when you watch him fight.. I also think that's the reason many people believe Vitaly has more power which I'm not so sure about !
hmmm, who do you think has more power than wlad? He is the most powerfull boxer in the world in my eyes.
I think Maskaev has more power in his punches than Wlad. That's based on Maskaev fighting Rahman I, Rahman II, and Peter Also, Haye seems to have more power in his punches than Wlad, to me at least.
Nope. You have to remember two things. 1. Wlad doesn't put everything into every punch like he used to. He only cranks it up when the time is right. 2. His opponents are basically on total defense. It is much easier to take a punch, when you are sitting there, gloves up... and bracing for them. The fact that Wlad still stops his opponents when they are bracing for everything is flat out amazing.
lol thanks for the laugh. wlad is p4p the best puncher in boxing. even Ring magazine agrees and their the biggest klitschko haters ever This content is protected This content is protected
As soon as I began reaing your first post I had a flashback of the Calvin Brock knockout slowmo and just couldn't agree with you hah. Haye does have amazing power, and I think his speed makes the punches look more devastating than wlad's at times.
