He got floored by Mormeck then got up and won...........A bit like Pavlik against Taylor except Pavlik didn't have to drop 18 pounds from his last fight to make the weight, and Haye got up and kept fightinf gor the rest of the round instead of just holding on to make it out the round. And Pavlik was held up as some kind of ****ing warrior after it. Against Carl Thompson Hayes corner threw the towel in cause they knew David was gassed and would take too many punches. It's as though the Haye-haters think if enough of them say it enough times it becomes true.
He was ahead on points against Thompson and if I remember correctly he wasn't put down in that fight. He was just out on his feet cause, basically he wasn't fit enough to last the distance. Everyone that says he's an arrogant ***** should see his post fight interview as well. He was totally magnanamous in defeat unlike say Paulie Mag when his corner threw the towel in cause he needed a KO and wasn't even throwing any punches.
I think he gets knocked off balance a bit cause of the way he moves as much as anything but he doesn't get stunned or fall on his ass the way people make out. I thought he won a Silver at the World Amatuer Championships. I may be wrong but I thought he had an excellent amatuer career.
You dont remember correctly.. he did go down vs Thompson, though you are correct he ended the fight on his feet. Chinny is probably not the right word for Haye. He seems to be susceptible to temple shots and had been knocked bandy several times in his career by them. See the Mock fight for example. He knows its a weakness though. He knows he isnt a durable fighter like say Holyfield and that he cant fight like a guy that is. On the plus side it makes for exciting fights.
Not sure. Probably just from that Thompson fight. What people fail to realize is sometimes people get knocked out cause they get punched perfectly on a nerve and it shuts your brain off. Some people talk like theres a choice
Haye haters use the loss to Thompson and the fact that Haye's kissed the canvass more than a few times to draw the conclusions they draw. Truth is this; Haye can indeed take a hit without being knocked down (Enzo clocked him good) and when he does go down he gets up to win by knockout himself. These are facts not opinions. It's also a fact that regardless of size difference, if a man large man gets hits by a smaller man cleanly and flush the bigger man is going to get hurt. If anything the fact that he goes down once in a while shows he needs to tighten up his defense, not that he's got a chin made of glass. Haye haters also seem to have a problem with Haye's big talking. The fact is he's always polite yet confident, and has never once said anything that was untrue about any fighter or the heavyweight division. Haye's character and style are so healthy for boxing I still have a hard time believing that there are people who hate this guy. Haye is an exciting, talented, and strong fighter. As a fan I will be routing for him vs. Vitali but I think he's bitten off more than he can chew with the older Klitschko. Go Hayemaker!
Part of it is that most punchers have weaker chins or are thought to. When they commit to punching they seem to neglect protection since they are more focused on punching. It is a idea I think we all unconsciously believe. So the fact Hayes punches hard means he cannot take a punch. There is some validity to it. And the loss he had also earlier in his career with Thompson and some fights he seemed hurt. That helps. And he is fighting a big guy. All of if it seems to indicate that he either knocks out Vitali early or he is going to crash.
I don't think it's the mismatch against VK that a lot of people seem to think. I, personally wasn't that impressed with Vitali against Sam Peater. He done well considering his lay off maybe but Sam P was fat and slow and Vit just seemed to be doing a Wlad and taking a safety first approach. Peater was a disgrace to boxing that night. It is a big fight and a big step up for Haye but I have no doubt that Haye will be in a completely different class, in practically every department, from Peater and it'll be a much more difficult fight for Vitali than he's had for years as well. I don't get this 'First right hand from Vitali and it's all over' bs thats been all over these boards all night.
Most people probably haven't even seen the fight. Haye was beating him up badly and gassed out like an overzealous rookie. He also didn't really get sparked or anything of the sort, he was just simply beyond the point of exhaustion and you could have probably pushed him and he would have hit the canvas. Even still, when he was flailing around the ring with nothing left Thompson landed some very big shots that didn't put him down straight away.
OK, I've just watched all 3 of his KD'd, the reason I forgot about 2 of them was probably cause he got up, seemed collected (except being gassed out against Thompson,) and kept fighting through the rest of the round. To me, that isn't being chinny or getting hurt easily. I could remember the Mormeck one cause it was a ******* of a shot.
