why can't it be haye-wlad and gomez-vitaly? cannot wlad take an optional defense as haye's presumably ranked high enough. also haye-wlad could be june also. that way, vitaly could fulfill his mandatory and give gomez a fight he deserves. moreover, if haye gets by wlad (doubtful) than haye vitaly (who should win also but be tested by jcg imo) would definitely be a mega fight. also as others point out haye likely has a better shot versus wlad. is vitaly again trying to take care of threats to little bro (yes i do think wlad will beat haye but u know the point)? plus the fans get two good fights for both bros in the next few months

EDIT: guess povetkin is still wlad's mando so scrap above though one could hope. that said povetkin is also a good test to wlad so it's probably ok for the fans for vitaly to bypass jcg imo (tho it sucks for gomez).

since Vitali destroyed Peter everyone wants a piece of him just for the big payday.

The question is: what has David Haye done at HW? Beat Monte Barrett? C'mon. Gomez has done much more at HW than David Haye, and he actually won TWO eliminators to get that number one spot.

Gomez is absolutely right, and he has every right to be angry and crave his shot at the WBC title (and the payday that comes along with it).
He is the WBC mandatory challenger, and he has won two eliminators to get there. He has done much more at HW than Haye, and he was CW champ before his run at HW too. Honestly, if he takes the fight serious, I think he could give Vitali a tougher fight than Haye, although I favour Vitali over both of them.

In the end, I don't really understand what the problem is. Vitali agreed to fight Haye in June - that's six months from now. Why can't Vitali squeeze in a mandatory defense against Gomez in march? Isn't he supposed to be a great champ? And if he can't fight more than once a year he should give up the title. Vitali should fight Gomez in March while Haye could take another tune-up fight on the undercard and then face the winner (probably Vitali) in June. That would the right thing to do and be best for the HW division.

As much as I want to see Haye and Vitali fight, I don't look at Gomez as being some nuisance who's standing in the way.

The man earned his shot. He basically fought two eliminators (McCall and Virchis) and won them both.
