I say **** it let it happen already so he can get knocked out exposed again and be gone from the sport.
I don't know when getting a gift decison warranted a title shot......I think it started with Rahman getting one after a bogus fight with Toney.
Well, if so then Thompson will beat him easily and add a good name to his record. It is just your opinion. JT has only been beaten by Peter and he was competitive with every heavyweight he faced. Toney - Thompson will give us definitive answer on JT state. If he loses that fight, he should retire.Right now, Jt does not deserve a title shot.
It was a difficult fight to score, I'll have to watch it again and do a round by round. I had Toney up by a point, because of the point deduction, 114-113 Toney, well it might have been 115-113 for Toney since some rounds were so close, a couple rounds could maybe be scored 10-10. Oquendo finished better but the first six rounds he didn't land much on Toney aside from a couple jabs. At best you could say it could've gone either way. They both looked crap. One question, Mr. Magic: did you actually watch the fight in Sweden?
I agree, Rahman and Holyfield clearly don t deserve to fight for the title either... Nevertheless I think that Toney needs a good showing against top opposition first before challenging for a major title. A solid win would also add both ,credibility and excitment to another title shot of the lightsout.
Respect, you're a true boxing fanatic, getting up in the middle of the night to watch a crappy fight that resembled more a sparring session than a pro boxing match. I watched the fight too thru a stream, but on TV, also in the middle of the night. I had Toney winning by one-two points, but I'll watch the fight again. Very disappointing fight, since I'm a huge Toney fan - I had to take a couple drinks to digest it... Skål för fan!
Toney clearly lost to Oquendo. I don't think you can put him ten any longer (if you had him there) after that one.
