It was a punch to the chin, right on the button. I saw it "live" on TV the very first time it aired.

The puncher's momentum just kinda forced the punch to slide downwards after clipping Pac's chin.

If it were a shot to the solar plexus, the fighter's natural reaction would be to:

a. double over in pain or
b. kneel down or
c. delayed reaction KD or
d. grimacing in pain, rolling in the canvas or
e. all of the above

but when Pac was hit, he dropped like a sack of potatoes. And when they tried to stand him up, his legs were dead. And he was crosseyed for a few minutes.

 

For sure. I mean, he beat the great Pac, he's a boxing GOD!
