So if I beat hell out of Muhammad Ali tomorrow will that make me "the greatest"?

Cool. I'm gonna beat the hell out of him, George Foreman and Joe Fraizer and become the new "King of Boxing".:bbb

    Your rationale is RIDICULOUS!

You don't get no points for beating up a widely regarded washed-up fighter and just because the guy has a legacy, you expect to inherit that legacy. Everyone in boxing knew Roy was shot, and you want to claim some victory because he destroyed him?:rofl

    Get REAL!!!

take roy jones out of the equation.

dosent calzaghe get any credit for destroying the unbeaten records of kessler and lacy? for being unbeaten for his ENTIRE CAREER?

lacy was being pumped up as the second coming of mike tyson.

who else is there left for him to fight? froch?? dawson?

    come on man..

like i have said, calzaghe has been a bit arrogant at times, but ****ing hell the **** that a lot of you come out with is totally out of order.

    Not to interupt your monolouge..

But it seems to me youre bashing the **** out of a strawman there. i.e. you're ridiculing some imaginary, extremely idiotic, Calzaghe hater.

You do a good job of making him sound like an idiot..but are there any real people you can argue with?

How come Joe gets accused of fighting an old man in Hopkins but when Hopkins thrashed the life out of Pavlik,Pavlik didnt get slated for fighting Hopkins and he's ten years younger than Calzaghe. All thats said is that B-Hop's a freak of nature master of art of boxing bla blah, but when Joe beats him he's an old man.The hate against him is unbelievable,Latif hates him 'cos he made money out of the sport,Martels dreaming that Kessler actually beat him and as for Hambone's statement that everyone in boxing knew that Roy was shot is bull**** the amount of predictions that Roy was gonna KO Joe shows that many people still believed B-Hop for one and plenty of Jones Jnr fans

so are several members who have contributed to this thread saying firstly that Calzaghe shouldnt give a **** about the fans who put there asses in the arenas that he fights in everytime, and it was a hell of a lot of times when he was fighting in UK!

I do agree that yes he has had to make sacrifices through his life to get where he is, but to disregard fans the way joe does is ****. He doesnt need to.

I also agree with you that yes the constant ducking is BS, he's shut up the second coming amazing American, the unbeatable European and that wiley old racist *****, fact, BUT, your telling me that he didnt have a say of who his opponent would be between 2000 - 2006, thats the biggest BS out the lot pal. Yes BPOPS rejected his offer in 2002, but i didnt see him swinging his weight around asking for other fights, did you?? All i saw were mammoth mega fights with the supreme fighters known to us as Tocker Pudwill and Mario Veit. Your posts were good yes, but facts of life pal, everyone has an opinion.

I've met Joe 3 times now and every time he has been pretty cool. His girlfriend has stood to one side and he has signed autographs and posed for pics, without an issue. I have found him to be a pretty cool person. He was sat infront of me at a Foo fighter concert and then I saw hime ring side at Haye vs Enzo. The final time I saw him was in NYC just 2 days after the fight.

The thing with boxers is they are all confident and cocky, its just there make up. Maybe Joe has a chip on his shoulder about recognition, but I don't blame him TBH.

i am a fan of calzaghe for his boxing skills not for his personality.
personally i think he is a bit of a dick and he would not be someone i would go out for a pint with.but i am a fan of boxing and a fan of calzaghe`s boxing abilities, and nothing more.
enzo mac and hatton i would have a pint with.

We all know Lacy was hype, thats all he was.

Kessler was a good fighter, but you don't claim to be an ATG by fighting only one single good fighter. And you don't get props for beating up old men Waaaaay past their prime and shot fighters.

The problem with Calzaghe fans is whenever their fighter accomplishes ANYTHING it gets lawded as somekind monumental event, when in reality Calzaghe has accomplished nothing worth remembering by anyone outside of his crazy, delusional fans.

The truth is Calzaghe will be forgotten the moment he hangs up his gloves.:good

Kessler,Hopkins,Lacy,Junior,Mitchell,Sheika,Eubank etc will never forget him i'm sure of that.
After all he landed more leather on Hopkins than he'd had through every fight of his career.
For every crazy delusional fan there's a crazy delusional hater who can't see real achievements through the hate

Calzaghe seems very insecure, and I think he should keep his mouth shut about other fighters, Carl Froch isn't a credible opponent? but Rick Thornberry was? or how about giving a guy like Veit who Calzaghe knocked out in the first round a rematch? ****ing hell, if Calzaghe had been taking on the best and biggest challenges all his career than he would have earned the right to say whatever he likes, but hiding in Wales and proclaiming yourself the greatest doesn't exactly help the guys credibility.

    Very good fighter though.
