Your point is well made. However, basketball players and baseball players can either get up to bat again or just take another shot next time down the court.

Heavyweight boxers get knocked the **** out and possibly ruin their careers with mistakes, possible also getting seriously injured or brain damaged. I dont think you can compare the consequences of missing a slam dunk with missing a hard right and being countered and knocked out. id like to see a basketball player miss a dunk and then get smashed in his jaw!

Also Wlad did exactly what you are saying he SHOULD do against Brewster in their first fight and guess what..he ate a lot of **** after that for being "chinny" when he was totally exhausted. He also showed a lot of heart getting up multiple times versus Sanders who is a very dangerous fighter. Again, he took a lot of criticism for that loss. So yuor criticism argument fails.


I say your comparisons are apples to oranges. Having a choice to fight a solid techical fight where u dont lose any rounds and then stop your opponnent is a hell of a lot smarter than going balls out in 3 rounds and likely stopping your opponent but maybe ending your career. Wlad is building a legacy and is dismantling opponents.

The reason that Wlad gets critisized i think is because he could do so much more in the ring than he does.

He could have taken Rahman out earlier and more spectacualrly if he wanted to.

 

Widdow, Wlad will dominate for a long time. And when that time comes many people will just hold their fingers crossed every time he fights, hoping that he loses. Its not happening anyways, and he will just exit the sport.

 

It would have been more brutal and spectacular in the 7th but the ref decided that its time for Hasim to go home and saved him.

 

I am just saying he could have had Rahman out in 3 rounds if he wanted, and thats the impression I got.

Which is why people give him ****, because he is better than he looks...

 

Wlad will get his recognition when he retires,just like Lewis.
But he still has plenty of opponents to beat till then.

 

What you and every other poster are saying is you wants Wlad to go balls out and take people out early and leaving himself at risk.

How about you appreciate a textbook dismantling and defensive masterpeice of a fight where rahman landed nothing..nothing of value and ate punch after punch while being punished into submission.

First of all Hasim is way past his best and was a late replacement whos only job was to pick up a cheque. He had nothing to offer, Wlad had a corpse in front of him from round 2 onwards, but he was still playing it safe.

The fight went excactly how I predicted, Wlad lets jabs and jabs and jabs and jabs, until the ref gets bored and stops the fight.

Wlad is technically the best heavy out there and by quite a margin, but he has no killer instinct, he could have demolished Rock anytime he wanted but he didnt, because he fights scared - simple as that!

Haye wouldve knocked him out properly you that you can guarentee.

 

BigReg is dead on. I don't argue Wlad's skills. Hell I give him credit for being one of a handfull of heavyweights that show up in shape. The problem is that he is the most boring finisher in the history of boxing. Especially when you take into account his amazing ko percentage. Despite having an advantage in almost every category he seems content to use the same damn jab round after round even when his opponents arent firing anything back at him.

The guy could get a ton of fans and even more money if he would just back one of these tired, worthless, fatass turds into a corner and pummel them with combinations.

I don't necessarily think that he needs to kill a poor old man to make new friends, but it would be nice to see him incorporate some of the better skills that we all know he has. Wlad has a very well polished right hand and a good uppercut too. Its not so much violence that I'm looking to see out of him but just the beauty of his craft. Right now, its like watching Muhammad Ali fight flat footed, or Evander Holyfield with no heart. Wlad is fighting a lot like men such as Tony Tucker and Joe Bugner....Safety first. While I certainly don't blame the man for not wanting to risk his health and his career, I think he can still utilize more of his talent while keeping the risk to a minimal.........

 

I do think that Wlad gets criticized rather heavily. He's a Boxer, not Slugger -- time to move on! He isn't into taking risks, especially after having tasted defeat in the past. After all, he is the champ -- it's up to others to press the action and to TAKE HIS BELT AWAY! I very much believe in that philosophy. Most HW contenders simply haven't got what it takes to beat Wlad.

Sam Peter was at least willing to fight, sometimes even by the rules of boxing! I haven't seen to many others that have the tools and willing to take enough risks to beat Wlad. Povetkin was out so he took a voluntary fight and won easily, give him credit at least for that. Had Rahman won it would have nearly ended Wlad's career to the usual choruses of "Wlad sucks, he's overrated, Glass Chinned, stupid, ugly, etc.," Wlad did the right thing and I believe history will treat him more kindly than the present.
