I for one would love to see Holly win :happy watching him fight early in his career got me hooked on boxing :good Do it man were all pulling for you !:bbb
What if? It would serve Valuev and Sauerland right! I will root for Holyfield with all my heart this Saturday- go Oldiefield!!!
-1000 Valuev. Bet Holifield. Way too much skill. And on his absolute slowest day, still a speedball compared to Valuev. Watch Holifield make him miss, and make him pay --- all night long. All he needs is the cardio to sustain a fast pace --- too fast for Valuev. If he runs short in the gas tank, then he gives the fight away. Valuev shouldnt hit him in the ass.
If holyfield were to beat valuev, he could then have a rematch with Ruiz. A fight that would surely tantalize the boxing world.!!
I hope Holyfield somehow manages to fight his way to a close, even split, decision victory. If that were to happen, we would be looking at a very interesting HW landscape. After beating Valuev, Holyfield might think that he can beat Wlad. The unification fight would be good for boxing and perhaps give more mainstream interest at a much needed time. I think Wlad would be "kind" to a legend and administer a one sided jab heavy beating that would not endanger Holyfield's life.
it could happen since I doubt Valuev is a very good fighter, but Evander is a shot fighter. His reflexes are bad and he cannot pull the trigger. He has an excuse for being shot since he is 46 and has been in wars. Oscar has not been in many wars and is 35.
it would be a footnote, but you know what? Foreman had 3 shots at the title. If you give a guy a few shots at the title, the odds of them winning (especially a guy with Foreman's power and Moorer's weak chin) increase. Foreman lost to Morrison a year and a half before he won his title. Styles make fights. I think Valuev will win, but Holyfield has a shot by landing to the body of Valuev. I hate to compare it to a movie, but remember the punches Rocky landed on Drago? Sort of like that.
Well, Valuev sure as hell didn't impress me against shot versions of John Ruiz or Larry Donald, and he was outpointed by the much smaller Ruslan Chagaev. Now granted, Holyfield is well past the age where he is likely to duplicate what those other men did against Valuev, but the point is Nikolay is not the dominant force that his height and record might suggest. A crafty veteran who still has some desire left in him, could certainly trouble or dare I say, upset the Russian giant, especially if he is underestimated.
It's the fact that Valuev isn't an awesome fighter, and particularly to me looked like he was slipping against Ruiz with his usual stiff jab intermittant and 12-round stamina fading, that I give Holyfield a chance. But for Valuev it's simple. Keep thumping the jab consistantly, and try to time Holyfield with uppercuts when he closes. Outworking Holyfield these days is hardly the most difficult task in the world (which just goes to show you how far he's fallen), so if you do that by a large enough margin it won't matter if he can get some head-turning hooks in. Volume will win it.
