maybe but maybe not he has showed weakness in his chin for quite a while now and i doubt he has struggled with weight for that long, when he has gotten hit to the temple he has showed weakness also, its hard to tell whether a move to light welter will benefit him or not
I think Khan is in a catch 22. He doesn't really have that much power, certainly not to back up the leading lightwelters - but his chin is so bad due to (in part) his body structure...... On the plus side, he has plenty of arsehole - his heart cannot be questioned, and the handspeed of a bantamweight.
Khan proved nothing in his last fight. He fought another shot fighter. Until Khan has the balls to fight a top British fighter like Thaxton, he does not deserve the NO 1 rating. It reminds me so much of Audley Harrison. He refused for years to clean his domestic plate and look what happened to him. I have doubts that Khan would beat Thaxton. I am not even impressed with Thaxton's form in his last fight. But some respect should be shown for the true top British champions, and not some olympic hype job who was brutally stopped inside 1 minute by a Colombian road sweaper, and who has the chin of the purest bone china. Thaxtons level of comp and resume craps all over Khans.
Yeah - Thaxton has generally only lost to decent guys. Hatton, Magee and Romanov spring to mind.......
By the way, I'm sure this topic is played out by now, but in my opinion, Khan lost his fight with Limond. After getting up, he took a knee after he got up before the count was over - a TKO. He lost to Willie Limond and I don't blame Limond if he's upset about that to this day.
A bit harsh to label Prescott like this, hes still undefeated and may go on to do very well in his career, especially when you can bang like that. Anyway, Thaxton should be no.1 with Khan at no.2.
My assessment of Prescott is comical and true but not harsh. If you look at the records of the fighters that Prescott beat and where he fought them before Khan, then my comment has an element of truth to it...even if he becomes a belt holder, which I seriously doubt he will. He took advantage of the worst kept secret in British boxing.
20 fights, 20 wins, 18 by KO plus 3 win's over seas, and taking 4 career 0’s in the process is a great record for a man of his experience. True the standard of opponents isn’t great, but his win over Khan will put him in the mix to fight better opposition.
