Tarver had just beat up on Woods for the IBF crown and was a consenus top 5 LHW. That's a live opponent.
Europeans all watched there national football/soccer teams playing in Mexico, Japan etc. Bars that are normally closed can open up for big events and all that kind of thing. People are used to getting up in the middle of the night for international sports.
Actually Joe did not say he wouldn't fight Dawson he merely said he would decide on his future after christmas and did not see what else was out there for him.At no point has he said Chad Dawson no chance, unlike Carl Froch
why would he give jones a rematch??? he destroyed jones and won every round after the 1st! surely no1 would be interested in watchin jones get beat up again? and how could calzaghe who has already mentioned has kinda fell out of love with the sport motivate himself to fight him again after he has just easily despatched him:think
Calzaghe doesnt wanna fight him...if he did it would have been done already..dawson is not gonna hold out for money..he just hasnt been made an offer..plus tarver had a rematch clause and if any other fight had been made some sort of concession would have to be paid to him. Something im sure dawson wants no part of..dawson needs to stay active..and another bout with tarver is a good way to do it. The problem here is Calzaghe not Dawson
Woods fought poorly on the night, but he hadn't shown any sign of that in his previous fights, nor had Oscar. Jones has been a walking corpse for years.
in that sense you are 100% correct. our networks show olympics and world cups if they are at 7am in the morning or 3 pm in the day and they do it 24/7 every game and event. my brother tells me having been in florida during the 1996 atlanta olympics that american coverage is very sanitised, basicaly if an american is not competing or meddling then it is not shown. very much shown for home consumption only. but can this be changed, idont know. HBO defenatley need to get the tv audience numbers up though, a mike tyson tpe new kid on the block would revitalise american boxing very quickly.
come on odlh was a walking corpse and woods has never been very good, tarver was an ok opponent at the time but after the fight you could see he was well past it. In regards to jones he had a couple of shallow wins before the calzaghe fight and you wouldn't have thought he would be that bad, alot of fools picked him over calzaghe.
