[YT]p43zwTX3nbk[/YT] check out the video. Calzaghe claims that a fight with Dawson doesn't mean anything in terms of legacy, that he hasn't proven himself and has done nothing. The implication is clear, he's not interested in fighting Dawson.
It has nothing to do with vacating belts. If he doesn't take the rematch, then Tarver could sue him for his purse from the first fight.
"Vacating the belts" does not get you out of a rematch clause. Only a completely idiotic noob would not know that. atsch
Didn't Klit's say Haye had to work his way up the ladder, how he was only 220lbs, how he'd have to get in a long line... Boxers say things, and then its up to the challengers to tempt them, and change their mind, you could tell Joe changed his mind about Pavlik, had Pavlik beaten Hopkins, I'm sure Joe would have had that fight arranged already. Dawsons either useless at self promotion, or he is running scared.
As I said, im sure he'd step aside for a pay off, wouldnt be the first fighter to do this, but why was ''Bad Chad'' sounding off about Calzaghe after Jones? 5 weeks later he makes this? LOSER.
Neither Woods, Tarver nor Oscar had been getting sparked years ago so that they had to drop their level of competition to non top 10 ranked opposition just so they could continue their careers.
I pretty much agree with him. In terms of reaching the pinnacle of the sport, for sporting reasons, I think Joe done that when he fought Kessler and has been in something approaching semi-retirement ever since. He's only been fighting the big names of his own generation, who he probably wanted to fight for years. Dawson, imo is the next generation. History won't judge either Joe or Chad harshly if they don't fight.
