And Hopkins resorted to holding, headbutting and rolling about the canvas...every dirty trick in the book.

Hardly the sort of tactics one would associate with a true champion.

C'mon, we all know Calzaghe dominated that fight and almost had Hopkins KO'd towards the end. :yep

I don't know how Hopkins survived that violent fight from Calzaghe. :rofl

Those slaps had Hopkins elbowing, headbutting, clinging and in round 10 nearly out on his feet and quitting till he pulled a fast one with a helping hand from Cortez.

The holding was irritating, but hardly the first fight in which he resorted to it.

There was plenty of it in the Wright contest as well.

Calzaghe didn't dominate it at all, he lost four of the first five rounds and was decked in the first.

Listen, I don't mind anyone scoring it for Calzaghe......... but no wider than 114-113.

Calzaghe won. That's all that really matters to me.

And it's a victory that Hopkins himself can not match in his resume, wins over Tito, Tarver or Pavlik are not on a par IMO.

In fact, until the Pavlik bout took place, one could easily have argued that he had failed to beat the best fighters he had ever faced in Roy Jones, Taylor at MW and Calzaghe at LHW.

Only Tarver really had a shout in that regard.

Pavlik boosted his record hugely, he's a big MW whos fought above the weight before so I don't really listen to any **** regarding the weight issue: Hopkins would've schooled him no matter what the weight.

I disagree. IMO Trinidad is the best win on Hopkins's resume and Tito is a better fighter than Pavlik or Taylor. Pound-for-pound I also have him above Calzaghe, so in a p4p sense Hopkins beat the 2nd best fighter he fought (no-one except Montell Griffin  beat Jones, out of the men who actually had the bollocks to face him in his 1993-2003 pomp). It can be argued whether Hopkins's sensational performance against a live Tito is better or worse than Calzaghe's unconvincing performance against a past-prime Hopkins, but what cannot be argued is that Calzaghe's feeble resume is the equal of B-Hop's.

P4P Trinidad is better than Pavlik or Taylor, but his MW resume is thin - and he is chronically overrated on this board.

DLH gave Hopkins a better fight than Trinidad did, at least he won a round......

I'm a Calzaghe fan but I must say that B HOP IMO has the most impressive resume right now in Boxing I don't care what anyone says.. the man has beaten everyone and their mother with the exception of Jones and Calzaghe.. And if you ask me he could beat both of them in a rematch as well.. The fight with Calzaghe was close as hell and although Calzaghe looked like the aggressor he wasn't really landing a lot of punches cleanly.. Mad props to the dude though.. But my answer is HOP.. Hall of famer without doubt and a man hat has done what no other has and is to be a top 10 P4P at his age and fight like he is still in his prime.. Amazing if u ask me this shouldn't even be a question..
