Well I did it, I ordered Holyfield - Valuev on PPV!!

$24.95 on Dish Network, channel 455 at 2pm central time Saturday.

I figure at worst I watch a crappy fight for $24.95..and at best I see history in the making as Holyfield once again becomes heavyweight champ. Yes, it's a long shot, a very long shot. But I'm hoping Holyfield has at least something left in the tank.

It's pretty clear that Valuev won't be fighting Wlad soon because of Don King. Well, Holyfield will certainly not back down from the challenge. So for Holyfield to get the win, and then fight (and obviously lose) to Wlad would be the best scenario for boxing that I can see.

 

Well thats $24.95 wasted before christmas

 

I hope valuve puts this guy out of boxing for good,,,,to keep coming back after losing an losing, becomes more embarresment to the sport more then help.......

Why?

 

If it's a lackluster 12rd decision loss for Holyfield, yes.

But if it's Holyfields last professional fight, and/or if he wins or loses in spectacular fashion, any of those scenarios and it's worth the $24.95 to see it live, in my opinion.

Like it or not, for Holyfield to WIN, that would be GOOD for boxing, as far as getting mainstream attention goes.

Holyfield beats the giant, gaining attention from the "average joe" fight fan in the US.

He then fights in a "I've slayed one giant, I'll do it again" fight against Wlad (in which Holyfield will of course lose in spectacular fashion), and now Wlad is more recognized by the average US fight fan, and boxing is on the uptick.

That's the best scenario I see playing out.

 

I believe so, as the PPV block on Dish is 5hrs in length...I just don't know who else is fighting.

 

Nope, not at all. I mean, you watch it with a friend and you're paying $12.50 each.

 

I considered it but I know I'll hate myself once it goes the distance.

The 12-round co-feature pits two undefeated heavyweights against each other as German-based, Italian-born southpaw Francesco Pianeta (17-0, 11 KOs) defends his European heavyweight title against French challenger Johann Duhaupas (17-0, 10 KOs)

Former New York Knicks dancer Eileen “The Hawaiian Mongoose” Olszewski (5-2-1, 0 KOs) defends her WIBA flyweight title, which she won last February with a 10-round decision against Elena Reid, against undefeated German favorite Nadia Raoul (9-0, 3 KOs). Olszewski was born in Hawaii and fights out of New York City.

Also scheduled on the PPV card is an 8-round super middleweight bout between Danish southpaw Mads “Golden Boy” Larsen (50-2, 37 KOs), former IBO title-holder, and 5-time world kickboxing and Thai boxing champion, Roberto Cocco (9-2, 5 KOs), from Italy.

 

Thanks for the info...I know absolutely nothing of those heavyweights, but I can't help but be intrigued with a nickname like Hawaiian Mongoose. :!:

 

Why would anybody want to see Holyfield beat Valuev? You realize such a win would lead to Holyfield vs One of the Klitschkos and/or Chagaev right?
