We did a poll awhile back for the most disliked fighter in the sport and Joe Calzaghe won by a landslide. Interestingly, this was before Calzaghe's more recent comments in regards to his overwhelming lack of regard for certain boxing peers, and references to the sport itself "dying." Why do you, or why do you believe others, despise Joe Calzaghe?
For me its because his Dad and he constantly bangs on about his legacy being cemented blah blah.Enzo said it was sealed after the Lacy fight when really he'd only fought a load of cans up until then.There are several reasons I imagine
His 'O'. If he had lost against Reid back in the day, he wouldnt get half as much ****. Would have got rid of his own fascination with the O aswell, which wouldnt hurt.

I'd say the way he fights, hence all the Calslappy, Slappy Joe etc nicknames for him. It's always the first thing to get mentioned whenever anyone starts bitching about him.

Because he's a douche and because I am an American. Calzaghe is the one fighter I will admit a bias against, although I do acknowledge his skills; top ten of the last 20 years for sure. I will fully admit to wanting to see him lose because he is a **** though. And I am American and hate the fact that he keeps beating our big names (albeit at stages of their careers where they should be beaten).
Yep, Jealously. Never lost....Jones was not as shot as Calz. haters claim. He didn't endear himself to haters after the Hopkins dry hump either
If he'd have faced Jones or Hopkins or both when they were younger I really don't think I would have a problem with him; honestly. I'd never be endeared to his style of boxing, but... I just feel in some ways he has sneaked into a position of being credited with Greatness, ATG greatness, via the back door. He's done a lot to try, and correct that but I still fell it falls short in some way - I can't help it. The manic arrogant, blinkered, attitude of some of his fans just top it off for me.
