remember this being touted in the press at the time and remember thinking it would have an ali/frazier middleweight match up.

Hard to see Benn beating Nunn imo, as good as Nigel was.

A prime Nunn was just on a different level from guys like Benn, Eubank, and Watson. Nunn would have taken Benn apart for a stoppage, in a one sided fight.

Good matchup. Nunn looked spectacular against Tate and Kalambay and not bad against Roldan. Not so great against Starling and Toney. I actually think peak Benn could do it, mid rounds KO. Or have I had too much wine?

One sided my arse. Nunn was a special fighter but nobody had an easy night against a peak Benn.

Would have been a fantastic fight .And would have happened if Nunn hadn't lost to Toney .

Nunn is a big favourate but there's always a chance Benn takes him into deep waters and KOs him

Benn had crap stamina at 160. He aint taking Nunn into deep waters like Toney did. Nigel's best chance would be in the early rounds. But Nunn would be too elusive for Benn to hit early, and would hurt Nigel with his counters. By the late rounds Benn would be spent, and Nunn would jump on him and force a stoppage.

Hard to see Benn winning without landing a KO punch..

Id pick Nunn to win a UD, hands and feet too quick and as the taller man with the reach advantage his jab would be the key. I can see Nunn taking advantage of Benns leaky defence and slow feet. Nunn wouldnt even try to KO Nige though.

    Nunn UD.

Nunn had his share of average performances....In the end he was a bit of a wasted talent and I tend to think Benn took his as far as he could.

Based on their best performances the smart money is on Nunn via a clear points win, a stoppage aint off the cards..But there always is a chance Nunn will have one of the those fights where he just phones it in and Benn on the other hand is on the rampage..I could picture a Benn win there in that instance.

I agree here. As good as Michael Nunn was, Benn would always have a puncher's chance.

I thought Nunn looked spectacular against Toney for the first half of the fight, but then Toney started to land his right hands.

I think prime Nunn, the version that sparked Kalamby and gave Tate a lesson, would outbox Benn and perhaps stop him late. Nunn was a big guy, and although very rarely sat down on his punches, would probably put Benn in trouble with accumlative punishment. A late stoppage or a wide UD for Nunn. He was fantastic on his best day.

Benn is one of my favourite fighters, just brilliant to watch as you never knew what was going to happen. Going into this one your heart says Benn KO, but your head says Nunn UD or late stoppage.
