you need to break down "kessler's crown" to understand how this is going to work.

"ridiculous" is asking a guy who has fought spinks, lacy, pavlik and hopkins twice - to take a ride on kessler's bandwagon when his own promoter doesn't have enough faith in him to give him a world class opponent after the calzaghe fight.

sure the belt is leverage, but dont ever use a 'belt' to undermine a fighter's achievements and expect him to **** all that hard work away against a dangerous fighter who has only had one fight against that sort of opposition - and lost.

    yes kessler does.

he's fought top contenders to earn the fight with joe - but now palle has him fighting stiffs.

kessler doesn't get a top fighter until he gets back to fighting top opposition.

but team palle thought a 'belt' against sartisan was the right move....

kessler might be manager of woolworths right not but he'll never get a job in harrod's.

thats actually a damn good example i think :)

The rumble in the jungle would have taken place in the US if it was fought today. One of the greatest spectacles ever would never have happened in the same way if we went by today's standards.

    A very real shame.

true. but that fight was a huge gamble for don king and that was the fight that made him in the sport.

he might be a pretentious, dishonest and selfish ***** - but he's made some mighty impressive fights on the way

    kessler's actions do but his promoter's don't.

it's not about taylor being "afraid" of kessler.

this is a common misconception because it's up to the leser known fighter to earn a shot at an established fighter who is recognised internationally and has taken more risks.

you'll see this often where someone posts in defence of their preferred fighter who is talented (like kessler) but who doesn't understand how the business of boxing works.

the frustrating thing about kessler's situation is that he's done the hard work....

    - heøs beaten the top SM contenders on the way to a US televised calzaghe fight.

    - he's been interviewed live with ESPn and has a good following stateside.

..but what does team palle do with all this hard work?

he takes the negative route, a backstep by rejecting miranda in favour of an alphabet belt - and then a bogus defence.

kessler has done enough to earn a fight with taylor, but only because taylor lost to pavlik. and maybe if kessler had fought miranda he'd be taken seriously enough to make this happen.

instead, arthur abraham took the fight and that has set him up nicely while kessler is fading into the background after two meaningless euro fights.

if that continues, he won't fight anyone and he'll be the next felix sturm.

    thats not what i'm saying.

i'm saying that kessler is taking himself out of the picture by letting team palle downgrade him by fighting euro bums because team palle thought an alphabet belt would be a good, safe return from teh calzaghe loss.

if kessler had beaten miranda, a fighter who honestly is nothing more than a stepping stone to quality fighters, then that would have kept kessler in the public's eye internationally and we might already have that fight to look forward too...

You have a point in principle; however:

    1) Pac-Hatton should probably be on neutral territory

2)What would be the ticket price in The Phillipines vs. The US
