i'm surprised nobody has mentioned this today, boxing has lost one of it's heavy hitters tonight...solo boxeo has been cancelled and i dont understand why..the ratings were among the best they had, but if i understood correctly, they wanted more money and time for ****en soap operas :--( fridays will never be the same again...i know we'll still have FNF'S for about 9 months of the year, but the drama and rivalrys that SOLO BOXEO brought were ****en great...and the commentating was class, no bias bull**** at all, ever !!! i dont know if i watch to much god damn boxing, but they showed some badass clips that i had forgotten all about.... i do wish though that they would've ended on a high note, and not with a mismatch like huerta vs alvarado....huerta deserved better, and after getting robbed against kid diamond, it kills me to think that this man is probably gonna never be seen again... really, what a sad day for the sport..
I was going to post one of these, but decided to say my piece in the Alvarado thread instead. Adios amigos!!!!! :bbb
to be honest, i'm even gonna miss the times of taking these 2-18 mexicans to fight these 115-0 puerto ricans, and barely winning a decision in puerto rico
And freddy it was a mismatch (and I shuddered at some of those uppercuts Miguel took flush) but dude gave a good account of himself. Fought like a warrior and went out on his shield. I think it was a smart pick for the series finale; it was guaranteed to be all-action while it lasted and it carried a crowd-pleasing (if somewhat hard to watch and maybe slightly belated) finish.
i dont know man, it just didnt rub me the right way...i loved when huerta turned southpaw and was actually winning the round, but then he just laid on the ropes and took a ****en mopping of a beating........ can't wait till vicious victor ortiz gets a hold of alvarado, something about him keeps me from being a fan, and i've seen all the mans fights..even before he turned pro, i read a magazine where he came out and said that tito was his fav fighter of all time....:fire
Man I'm defn gonna miss Solo Boxeo...Alvardo is a good prospect his defense has seemed to improve and has descent pop...Ortiz-Alvardo would be a heck of a fight...If both keep winning and grab a belt along the way COULD BE A HUGE FIGHT IN SAY 2010!
That ****in' blows...me and my dad were both watchers of SB for a LOOOONG time...since I was about as far back as 5 or 6 I can remember my dad watching SB...I wonder if he knows:think :sad2 Sad day indeed...he used to follow it and let me in on the good fights and we'd watch together...now its done and gone for the big titty shitty acting soaps (which i guess in a male sense is a nice trade off :conf) It shall be missed :good:hi::hat
This is a sad day for boxing. It was on free TV. I seriously use to try to watch it as much as I could with my 9 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son. It was our father and kids tradition every Friday night. I thought I was going to watch Soloboxeo with them for years and then they were going to watch SoloBoxeo with their kids, on and on. Sad day indeed. :-(
The difference was size dude. Alvarado looked huge compared to Huerto, he did not even make weight. Miguel should still to lower classes where his lack of power is not so evident.
damn, I cant beleive that it'll be back mexicans gotta have their boxin just like they got to have calliente and jose luis
They're both listed as having weighed in right at 140, but yes Alvarado looked much bigger. Huerta looked more musclebound than I've seen him but that isn't necessarily helpful for him when he isn't exactly RJJ to begin with.
