My dad wants to start watching boxing again, he was a big fan but stopped watching in the mid 90's What are the best fights with british boxers featured in recent years that i should show him
I reckon for big fights you should show him; Haye vs Mormeck Hatton vs Mayweather Calzaghe vs Kessler Khan vs Gomez Not that many decent big fights involving brits over the last few years.. If he likes old style boxers why not thrown in a few of Edwin Valero's recent ko's. Or why not the MAB vs Morales trilogy.. There are literally hundreds of great recent fights that I am sure would rekindle anyones love for our great sport. Good luck :good :bbb
Arthur - Gomez Calzaghe - Lacy Haye - Maccarinelli Hatton - Tsyzu The first one is a great scrap, the rest are signficant as they showcase our 3 best fighters in fights that rank among their best performances.
must see's: Kevin Mitchell Vs Carl Johanson Mathew Macklin Vs Jamie Moore Alex Arthur Vs michael gomez Even Mathew Marsh vs Esham pickering was alright scrap
agreed just by watching the video you can tell the atmosphere was rocking in that place. Also try Alex arthur's fight before the one with Nicky Cook. A good fight too
Show him some Jamie Moore v Jones 3 and Macklin Other fights are mentioned above... Show him Mayweather v Hatton, Hopkins v Calzaghe, Hopkins v Pavlik, Margarito v Cotto.. If you want to get him excited about boxing again then try Gatti-Ward, Corrales-Castillo 1, MAB-Morales 1 (or even 2 or 3) or Cotto v Margo If he is wondering about the greats of the era, show him Tito, Hopkins, Mayweather, Calzaghe, Roy Jones, Tyszu, Oscar, Pacman, Barrera, Morales, Sweat Pea, Mosley and the like What do you think, from talking with him would he like to see? (style wise, fight wise?)
Some great fights mentioned, Brodie v Chi I is my addition to the list, aswell as Moore v Jones III and Moore v Macklin. Johanneson v Mitchell and Arthur v Gomez are more great fights listed above. and if he is a fan of heavyweights, the Skelton, Williams, Sprott, Harrison merry-go-round did produce one ******* in Williams v Skelton I. That's if you want British fights and fighters, of course outside of that there's the usual Barrera v Morales trilogy, Vasquez v Marquez trilogy Somsak Sithchatchawal v Mayhar Monshipour, Lamon Brewster v Sergei Lyakhovich and Jean-Marc Mormeck v O'Neil Bell. Toney v Jirov is another great fight too. Outside of Britain there's of course 100's of them.
Cant believe no-one's mentioned Earl vs Katsidis. If that was two more 'household name' fighters that would be a world famous fight.
Froch v Pascal as you can tell him it was only a few weeks ago and many are looking forward to see how Froch does in future. He will have a British boxers career to watch in real time rather then one who is done, or nearly done. Also, it was a very entertaining scrap, and as long as he isn't some some sort of absolute boxing purist he should enjoy it. Similarly perhaps show him a couple of Haye fights... ,although not his defining, fights the Enzo fight shows his power (and is over quickly), and the Barret fight was actually pretty entertaining (and very recent).
yeah, if that don't get him interested in following the sport again you may as well give up. As entertaining as you could hope for.
